Looking into purchasing a first boat...a 1986 268 Weekender. Part family boat, part dad-needs-to-get-away boat.
Of course I have questions....and of course I searched! (the entire internet actually......which brought me here)
Still have to work out a final number with the seller but I'm hoping that, by the 20th, I will have this nearly turn-key tub in my driveway for somewhere around 7k (that's with trailer, dinghy, canvases, safety equipment, bumpers, etc). I say "driveway" since I will be faced with repairing a couple window leaks before I am comfortable enough to dunk this in the drink and leaving it there for the week.
As of right now I'm working on sourcing the cabin window frame perimeter seals and/ or the felt seals beyond having to go to Taylor Made (who tells me they will sell only to dealers) and being stuck with the mark up as a result.
The seller has mentioned a company called Schlegel who is (allegedly) responsible for making the seals in question. I am still trying to dig into that to understand a more.
With that all said, I am very excited to soon have a place to go where there isn't a road in sight.
