CBD--anyone use it? Does it help?

Been doing PT for years. Problem is L4/L5 are bone on bone. They recommended fusion 3 years ago. I did PT instead which hel[ed mobility but not pain. Then they sent me to pain management and that worked for 6 months or so. When injections stopped working, they did a laminectomy. That worked for 6 or so months, then they sent me back to pain managements. First round after the laminectomy worked pretty well. Second not so much and I think the third made it worse. That was last week. Unless pain management wants to try nerve ablation, fusion is about my only real option.
Have you heard of or tried a spinal decompression machine? It's a lot like traction but uses independent pulling mechanisms and computer control to "pump" the disks according to programmed patterns. My L4/L5 have been trouble for a long time. I was using a chiropractor which helped a lot. He put me on his (then) new machine about 10 years ago when an ortho surgeon wanted me to get on his next open slot. It worked wonders for me. I had to do sessions every couple days for several weeks but it well worth it to me.

I did decompression a couple years ago and it worked until things degenerated to the point that it didn’t. I’ve tried everything that’s FDA approved. I went to medical MJ as a last resort and it had the most beneficial affect.

Ya you’re phucked…..

Now you sound like my doctor. :) They are talking about a new robotic fusion procedure that cuts recovery time way down.

Hemp generally has less than .3% THC and up to 30% CBD. Cannabis is the opposite.
I make CBD lotion with Hemp and Coconut oil, for topical pain relief. I have many satisfied users.

Western medicine does not like to accept any treatment that is new or different than what has been taught for the last hundred years.
For decades chiropractic medicine was discounted. It has proven to have a place in treatment of bodily discomfort.

Osteopathy is the connection between chiropractic and regular medicine. An Osteopath that can manipulate your joints, will often bring immediate relief.

my GF is a Chiropractor and Canadian licensed Osteopath. She is great at keeping my 3 previous back injuries in line.

Bulged discs are often caused by misalignment of vertebrae. Osteopaths can often correct the alignment and give relief.

Osteopathy is better for pain management than most drugs, IMO.

There is pain management and then there is fixing the problem. No amount of CBD, acupuncture, tens, oxy, or witch doctor machinations do anything to resolve the underlying issue. Lots of anecdotes about some combination of the above miraculously curing the issue, but for my money a good orthopedic surgeon trumps all of it.

I had a cracked vertebrate with really bad sciatica and went through the whole PT, acupuncture, tens and mystic-mumbo-jumbo routine. Finally told the doc, just fix it.

I agree with you when there is a structural issue. But in my case it was muscular and the surgeon didn't consider that. The chiro did and fixed 30+ years of pain.

Here’s information you’ll not hear very often.

No. CBD won’t do shit for your level of pain ie sciatica.

No. Surgery can leave you worse and in more pain.

No. Oxy and all those controlled meds will diminish in efficacy after 6-mos to year. Then what?

Yes. Therapy. Rehab. Diet. Weight loss and I don’t mean 15-20lbs. You’ll have to be just above anorexic.

Yes. Learn to live w pain.

I know. Not what you wanted to hear.

Weight loss should help. I thought it would. Ive lost 80lbs in the last year and a half and it didn’t help a bit. THC does help. Some say it just distracts you from the pain and some say it reduces pain. I think it helps with inflammation…and a 20mg hit definitely serves as a distraction.

When the medical community throws their hands up, you tend to venture outside the box a bit.

Somehow I am immune to THC. My son didn't believe me and gave me a two 20mg gummies. No effect what so ever. No distraction and no pain relief.

Do more, 2 20's are not enough. Take on an empty stomach and don't eat. When you do eat it's a buzz kill.

Buddy of mine said he was immune. He took 2 20’s and had to call his wife for a ride home. Medical MJ isn’t really regulated. The 20mg gummies I get in DE might not be the same as 20mg in FL. I’ve seen different effects from different batches of the same product.

Several things at play here to get a buzz. Food and alchohol in your system and physical exhaustion

When I was in high school, I smoked quite a bit. What I found was I had to be drunk to get high. Figured I was already drunk, why smoke? THC has simply never had an effect on me. There is a specific receptor that interacts with THC. Some people lack that receptor and I appear to be one of them.

GFs mom uses it to manage back pain, my sister uses it to help with high blood pressure. I eat gummies on occasion to manage, life...

I have gotten pretty good at managing recurring joint pain using a tens unit, trigger pressure with a lacrosse ball, stretching, etc.
