Plans in place for June 26-28. Trying to plan the trip close to hotel access so that other boats that may need one, can join us. Thus far, 3 boats will be leaving Charleston Friday 26th (Sadler, Nickysc and Searaypaul) and will meet up in Georgetown with Sweetdreams and Aloha Friday. Tentative plans are to mess around Georgetown, go out to the lighthouse, I will check into a plantation tour, and then I think a good seafood dinner is in order at either Riveroom or Rice Patty. Fri night can be optional as far as anchoring around georgetown, staying at a marina or at the Hampton Inn at Georgetown marina. Sat we will head up to see a "genwine man cabin" and then beach at Sandy Island. Again, sat night can be flexible as far as anchoring at sandy is. area, going back to the Wacca Wache marina or catching a cab from that marina to a hotel. Sun would allow for either a little more exploring or the time to sleep in and then hang out before those have to head back towards Chas. Hopefully more boats will join us with us for what is shaping up to be another GREAT get together sure to bring good memories and pics! As said, these are tentative plans and can be tweaked. Any input or suggestions...bring it on!

This is going to be a fun weekend, I can tell by the enthusiasm of this group. I hope everyone that enjoys boating and fellowship with others that share the same interest will put this weekend on their calender as a must attend event..... Nicky

BTW gang, I will probably be single handing on this trip. My nephew could not crew with me because he has to drive 7 hours with his family to visit his in-laws, and Bob has a golf tournament, and my wife and daughter will be off at another dance contest. I've been looking for an opportunity to do some long trips single handed to get more relaxed, so this will be great for me. I've gone all around Charleston single handed, but not done a long trip. Mike Islandhopper does it all the time. Too bad he's not on this trip to give some pointers.

Be gentle on me. I don't want to hear any catcalls if I miss that first approach or forget to pull in one of my fenders.

OK, any other boaters interested in this trip, please chime in. We'd love to have you join in.

Sadler, you have my vote of confidence, after all, you are The Boat Captian trainer. Chuck can probably give you some tips, he went to Hartwell alone.
I am getting excited, this is a trip I've been wanting to do for 3 yrs. The GT harbor has kept me from trying it alone. I can't wait, we will have a wonderfull time, just as we did in Charleston, as well it will be an educational trip with all the history in GT.
Kes is doing a great job planning this trip. ( Hopefully Jay will behave himself, if so, all will be fine.LOL) Nicky

I would not even think about giving tips to Sadler, he is the man. I've learned quite a few tips from him. Only think I would say is be nice to your 1st mate since he is the captain too. You can't yell at your crew. Even when they/you mess up. (Grin)

.

Sadler, you got to witness first hand my boat handling skills at your marina!
Bonzi, crashing speed, lay it in there. Gel coat damage be damned.
You'll be fine, you do as well as any I have seen, and with a big ole boat. Nicky will be happy to help ya, I'm sure. Right after he figures out what he's going to do! That's a joke, I watched him load his boat on the trailer and it only took one shot.

I sure wish I didn't have to miss this trip with you guys, but there will be more.

Sometimes, on these trips I think I "BOUT" get it figured out.

Well miss you as well Mike, but you have fun, and take lots of pictures. We hope to make this trip with you one summer,(If people would quit useing them Da$$$$$$ plastic bags and foam plates and cups, and use an all natural products,PAPER), I could go a lot sooner.

I only use paper products now because of you Nicky! At work I changed the shop kitchen over to paper plates instead of the foam.

You guys are WAY WAY too generous. I still feel very much the learner; no doubt there are many people on CSR much more experienced that I am. But thanks for the compliments and confidence. I was lucky to have a very experienced and knowledgeable friend (Jeff) help me learn. Jeff spent several years living aboard and cruising the east coast and Bahamas with his wife on a sailboat, then he moved to power boats, and has done the entire ICW several times, been to Alaska with his boat twice doing the Inside Passage, Great Lakes multiple times, Lake Powell twice, done the California coast, been all over Florida, etc, etc. I've been fortunate to have accompanied him on a few of the trips. Without Jeff's help, I'd have been lost. Jeff is semi-retired from boating now, but maybe I can get him to accompany us one of these days. Very nice guy.

Thanks for shareing, this just reassures my confidence in The Boat Captain Trainer.

Heck ya. When we get everyone all captained up, and confidance levels high, we'll be on our way.

I was hopeing you would remember we still have CITs in the group!

PS WHEN I GET MY CERTIFICATE then I am going to learn to type, then learn to use spell check!!!!!!!!

Looks like I will be in. I have to find a place to leave my dog. The kennel we usually leave her at is full that weekend. I will work on that Monday and then make reservations. I should know by Tuesday. Thinking about Hazard or Boat Works since they have floating docks and are not as exposed. Does Georgetown have floating docks at the Hampton Inn?

Paul, glad that you and Jane are definitely in. It will be great getting to meet the both of you. I can't help you with the GT info that you requested, but maby Sadler can, if not Kes will let you know. LOOKING FORWARD TO 2009 GEORGETOWN RONDEVOUS Nicky

So great you and Jane will be able to make it Paul. Yes, there are floating docks at the Hampton Inn. I've never stayed there, but have been by and seen the marina in front of the Inn. In the photo, the Inn is shown with a blue H and the marina is on the Pee Dee River, and that's the Waccamaw River/ICW on the right. Maybe give the Inn a call to check on a slip. This is going to be a great rendezvous.

Here's a Georgetown marina with new floating docks. It wasn't there last time I was through (last year). It's next to the historic area and the restaurants Kes listed. Paul--you might check out to see if there's any affordable lodging nearby. Hampton Inn might still be the best deal.

And here's the link to the marina next to the Hampton Inn.

Has anyone heard from Gerald, if I remember correctly, he was going to check his schedule and let it be known, hope he can make it!
Only 2wks away,( I think). Both of our tops (bemini, and camper) are in little pieces on the dinning room table and scattered all over the floor. I'm a little concerned, but wifey,Admiral and cheif seemstress, says not to worry???? I'm banking on her! This is going to be a fun adventure. Nicky
