"Carolina Gang" June 2009 Georgetown Rondevous

My Golden has a place to stay!!!!! Now I need to get the dockage and motel tomorrow. I hope the B&B is still available.

I was in Charleston today and met a couple that took a Rinker 270 on the loop. They did the entire trip in about 3 months. They were at the maritime center today on their 270 coming back from DC on the way to Jax. Very nice couple. They had just come down from Georgetown this morning and wished us a good trip.

Great progress Paul. I'm getting excited. Got my new wiper motor, and ordered a new anchor to try for the GT trip.

The Loop on a 27 footer. Now that's enthusiasm that is hard to match. After Georgetown, we all need to head for NY and get started on our own Loop trip. Or Lake Powell. Or both.

Has anyone heard from Gerald, if I remember correctly, he was going to check his schedule and let it be known, hope he can make it!
Nicky

I was afraid when I posted hopes, and I was right. That's the weeked a friend decided to get married and I'm doing the wedding.... don't think I can dodge out of that commitment :smt009

Gerald sorry that you can't make it. Maybe next time. I,ve wanted to meet you this summer. My Admiral has "KIN FOLK" in the Greenville area that share you'r last name. Who knows?? Nicky

The landluber has a room at a B&B that Kas (hope that is correct) recommended. It seems Chuck is sending some rough weather that weekend for those of you with the big boats that will anchor out. Chuck is from Georgia so we will forgive him.

I got the GPS and the VHF working today so I can find ya'll I hope. I am not sure who has the email list. I will send my mmsi number to anybody who wants it. If I could have some of your numbers then I can find ya'll after our leasurely start Saturday and Sunday morning.

Paul,

Never fear Chuck's weather making. He tried to get it to rain on us last time, but he failed and it turned out perfect.

Chuck--it's not to late to reconsider and come to Georgetown. you're welcome to sleep on my boat--there will be an empty berth.

Paul--I have the email list and will send to you. It has the MMSI numbers. Maybe add yours in and send back to everyone.

Sorry about the weather, but you know I only wish smooth seas and clear skies for my "Carolina Gang". I wish I could swing it Sadler. I'll be heading to Lake Allatoona for the CSR Raft up the weekend of the 26th. You all had better take lots of pictures!

Chuck

I hope you also have a good time with your visit to Allatoona. These nasty afternoon storms we seem to have every day will be over by then. We tried to go out today but no go because of the storms. Your luck will be better Chuck.

Ok guys n gals. We are officially back from the big city and and thankfully back into the world of wifi again. Ready to get this show on the road! No slips available at the boatshed marina for fri night. I must say after a week of highs ranging from 81 to 72 and getting home tonight around 10 pm in 90+ degrees still, we WILL be slipping Sweet Dreams so we can use the hatch ac! We put in a request at harborwalk marina tonight and will follow up and also call tomorrow on Wacca Wache for Sat night.

Paul... did you get a slip?

I think everyone else is ac capable on the anchor but if theres more slip interest, please chime in or better yet give me a call. I will ask for everyone while I am calling.

Ready for my feet to hit some water instead of pavement now!

Welcome back from the City. Hope you guys had a great time. We tried to behave ourselves while you were gone. Nicky hit me twice. Hard. And it hurt a lot.

Not sure about the slip vs. anchor yet. Walk me through the plan. Where would we leave our boats for dinner Friday and do you know of any good anchor spots close by? Thanks.

Heres a suggested plan. Lighthouse Fri afternoon, dock/dinghy to dinner Fri night at RiverRoom or Rice Patty. Sat leisurely hed up Waccamaw to Sandy Island to beach and swim/float for the day. Cook dinner on the boat and anchor that night OR slip at marina( Wacca Wache) Sun morn/day...whatever. I can check on a tour at Mansfield Plantation back in Georgetown if thats an interest. http://www.mansfieldplantation.com/
Then the Chas ppl can head back that afternoon.

I heard back from Harborwalk marina this morn and they CAN accomopdate 5 boats (our sizes) right now but said to make reservations fast before they fill up. I know we need 2 slips...for us and for Paul/Jane . Anyone else?

I guess the option is open to you bigger guys as far as anchoring or slipping. I wonder if Fri night, you can just anchor out in the harbor like the rest of the sailboats? If not, we can come up with other spots. It should not be a problem. Sat night could be anchoring at Sandy Island or somewhere on the Waccamaw OR a slip Wacca Wache marina.

http://wwmarina.com/home.html (I need to check on slip availability there still though.)

So what does everyone else want to do? anchor or slip. One night, both nights...what?

Nicky and I will join you at the marina Friday night. It'll be fun livin' it up with the rich folk at the marina. Are you making the reservations, or should we call?

Sadler and Nicky, I will call tomorrow morn and make reservations for you at the marina for Friday night. As of today, the other Sat marina has alot of openings with one slilp that can accomodate up to 150ft so if you're a betting man, I think you may be safe to play that one by ear. Funny we were already thinking about the "bout" part!

Thanks Kes, you'r a wonderfull host. The "bout" is what it's all "bout". This will create some comradory (now thats a big word) among the troups? Right!

Thank you Kes! I'm 'bout ready for next weekend!

What time do you think Nicky and I should plan on arriving Friday? Should we go direct to the lighthouse as we come across the Bay, or come into GT?

I do much better with my big words on the keyboard than in person, I can hit back space when it don't look right.
Does the shirt have to have all the buttons on it. (as Chuck says GRIN)
