I need a new Bimini Top, aft curtain, and side curtains for my 260 DA. Since my boat is made in AZ marine Max cannot match a canvas to my boat. has anyone bought canvas from marine max, and your boat was made in AZ?
The 260 DA is the same no matter where it was built, the only difference would seem to be the BOW's for the canvas.
Does anyone know if they BOW's are different?
If they are what do I need to change in the BOW's to make it work?

I dont feel like spending 3k to get one custom built
Thanks

Have you contacted great lakes yet and given them the numbers of your canvas ?? I am sure they may be able to help. One of the guys at our marina just got all new aft canvas for his 1998 330 DA. Same green color and everything.

I checked with great lakes. First off I was not impressed the person I talked to she was very rude. But anyways, they do not make a cover for a 260 DA without the radar arch.

Yeah the boats built in Phoenix are orphans when it comes to canvas. We've also got a Phoenix boat, and I've been having a local canvas shop do running repairs for the past several winters fixing up zippers and changing out the clear.

+1 to what Henry wrote... and me, too (Phoenix).

However, I would be greatly surprised if having a local shop make the canvas for you is any more expensive than buying it (if you could, that is). From my experience, the pricing tends to be about the same.

I got the price from Marine Max it would be about $1200 for the top, side front and aft and boot. I think a shop would have a hard time getting close to that price

I wonder if Westland still has the template for your boat? I think they made alot of the canvas packages for the SR Phoenix cruisers.

Rumor has it they "threw away" the template for the early 2000s model 280DA but maybe by some miracle your template was spared from the guy cleaning out the template files.

They do not have them and quite frankly they were a$$es when I called for help on the same issue. Seems they are still a bit salty after the break-up with SR. You'll need to go the custom route. Good luck.

Also be very careful with the assumption that everything is the same. I was fortunate enough to have "Brian 59" send me his canvas from his 2003 280 to check the fit before I ordered the '03 canvas to replace my '01's. The 280 hasn't changed in ten years but the canvas sure did.

I am sad to hear that, as my service has been outstanding throughout my research and purchase of full camper canvas and covers from Great Lakes Boat Tops.

With the 25% off good through 2/28/11 it was just under $1400 with shipping, for refrence. MM

Thanks for posting this information. I never would have known that my boat was an orphan with parts/pieces that don't match other 98 250s. Crap like this pisses me off. I can't think of a good, valid reason for them to make the same boat differently in two different plants. I'm sure someone will correct me.

Now I feel like a second class owner. I hear people snickering... "Yeah, he has a Sea Ray, but it was built in Arizona".

When I was first learning about boats I had the misconception they were mass-produced like cars. Alas they are run in much smaller batches in different plants with different parts at hand at different times. :smt021 I hate inconsistency. :smt021

From my Quality Assurance background....The first step toward poor quality is inconsistency. I'm not suggesting that this applys here. Just pisses me off.

Todd, Great post. I laughed harder than the characters.

I ordered the Bimini top canvas material and I am going to see if it will match the cover that I currently have. My question is has anyone ordered a canvas though Great lakes canvas or Marine Max for their sea ray 260 sundancer? what are the dimensions of your side panels or front panels? I would like to compare them with mine to see if they match. Thanks for the help.

Mine's in storage, right now.

Did the price through MM include install?

Did you try a local shop? If for nothing else, to narrow your options?

I tried a local shops they were all double the price of what I can get it from MM for. I figure that if the top fits everything else should fall into place. I might have to alter the bows a little bit. I am just worried about the size of the individual visor and side curtain pieces from Great Lakes Canvas if anyone has these dimensions that would be very helpful. Thanks again

+3 go local.....

I was thinking about taking a chance and ordering the canvas for a 2002 or 2003 for my orphan 2001!, so are you saying they are significantly different?
You think it might still worth the chance?
