But it looks like I may be saying goodbye to SR, at least for now anyways. As we have gotten settled into our life in FL and have bought and sold 3 boats in the last 4 months (makes Heather thrilled!) we have realized that right now in our life, the cruiser is not being used the way it should be. We are looking at a house on the St. Lucie River with ocean access and a boat lift. If we do this we will no longer have a boat at the marina. The type of boating we've been doing, our center console is much more practical and used far more. We are thinking its time to sell the SR and the Pursuit and get a 26-28' CC or walk around with dual outboards and keep it behind the house. This is a very tough decision as the SR is my baby and I have poured so much into her. She just doesn't fit our current needs anymore. :( Wish me luck as we move forward with this difficult decision and if it happens, please don't hate me toooo bad! I promise my SR days aren't over. Just not right, right now.

I have a feeling you won't be saying "good bye to SR". You just won't be a Sea Ray owner, and I'll bet even that won't last forever. Either way, best of luck with any transactions. Remember, there are some valuable members here on CSR that are not owners so even if you sell the Sea Ray, don't sell your stock in CSR.

I guarantee I'm not done owning SR's and as long as I'm still welcome here, I don't plan on going anywhere! Thanks!

Aw Man!!! Now my koozie will be worthless, as it won't have a boat associated with it...

Hope that it all works out for you and Heather, and of course the puppies.

Lol, well Scott, now you'll just have to come down again and get a new koozie!!!

I can't believe I'm reading this.....

I've been off of the board (don't ask) for a couple months and this is what I come back to! Say it ain't so. Just kidding, I completely understand. A smaller, lighter, dual outboarded boat will get more use and be more practical. I would offer one piece of advice for what its worth, get a walk around vs a CC. When, not if, some really bad weather kicks up the wife and dogs will appreciate it! Just my $.02 Better yet, how much frontage do you have? Keep the SR and get the offshore rig! Good luck.

Speechless......your help and knowledge got me out of some tough spots in those first 6 months of ownership. That said I do see your point.

NOW your in trouble!!

Keep the Searay, put another slip behind the new house. Look at a 27-28 Whaler, friend just bought one. The boat has a great cabin and he uses it all the time. Whaler, still kind of a Searay.

NOW your in trouble!!

Yep....a serious Rusty to Shaun talk coming! What are you thinking? You just need a bigger Sea Ray! Those twin outboards are pretty "Salty" engines for good ones. We now are in entertaining mode on our boat....I need a used 460! Man they are nice, Mike.

I know how ya feel Shaun.

Thanks everyone. Like I said, very tough decision. Rusty is just being a good friend and wants to make sure I don't buy a pos. I have thought about keeping the SR, but I believe it will spend far too much time sitting at the dock and that's not fair (or good) for her. She deserves better.

Get Rusty to tell you about the 330EC/340AJ and the 370EC before you do something stupid. The only difference is you wade in to the beach in water that is waist deep vs. knee deep water. Cat diesels are available in both boats, both are mid-late 90's, both have all the "new" construction features (compared to an '86 WE). Most importantly, big water and bad weather are not a factor and either boat with diesel will burn 1/2 the fuel and have none of the maintenance worries of a twin OB.

One thing you apparently haven't enjoyed in Florida is coastal cruising. Broaden your horizons and think beyond a day boat. One of the things we enjoy most about our boat is a long weekend at anchor or a trip up/down the coast for a night at a new spot/restaruants/attractions. You can not do that with a big CC.

Sea Ray is making boats with outboards, like the Venture...

My brother has a home in the keys, and he has CC on a lift... It's the way to go in FL. I would not keep the Sea Ray. Boats that don't get used are PITA, and will only cost you money... Photo shop a Sea Ray logo on your new boat and all will be well...

And for the sake of all...buy a damn diesel or you'll have to listen to crap from this motley crew for years...said the man with gas motors.

Sounds like you need to slow down a bit. 3 boats in 4 months?

Listen to what your friends are saying...

You may be on to something! Granted they've all been different size center consoles, but I may have a bit of a boating problem.....

Guess its better boats than heroin.

For what it's worth I went from a 22 walk around and wanted to get a 28-30 CC with a V-berth but my wife vetoed that idea and wanted something with a genny, AC and bathroom for our then 1 year old daughter. We ended up with the 280 (which I had to custom hinge the arch to get under a bridge) and keep it on a lift behind the house. We use it as a day boat mostly but have enjoyed the 4-6 weekend trips we do per year. All in all I would much rather have a large CC or walk around with OB's (which to me are much much easier to work on) than my 280. Good luck with your final decision. Atleast you're in Florida and are taking advantage of the sun and fun!

Funny 'ole thing Shaun we have been thinking along the same lines too....something to get in and go quickly.
