We plan to take the Whaler to some lakes that are about a 4-6 hour tow from here. I know I may be sacrificing my rep as a cheapskate but I wanted the extra security of knowing that the motor wasn't going to rest just on that tab, and wanted to take the load off the hydraulics.
Sloburn, I thought about doing something like that but a straight piece wouldn't work. The axle is too far forward to be able to do a straight shot from there to the motor so I needed something that had a bend in it.
I look at purchases like this a buying a bit of extra insurance against damage and for peace of mind.
