Calling all 360 DA owners

Yeah I like the sound too. I use to call them my fire breathing dragons. However everyone kept asking me what that sound was all about. Got tired of explaining it so I muted them. LOL!

Rob,
Ps, I have a good friend with the exact year sister ship of yours. Awesome boat! That's how I learned about the whoooshh. His are quite so I started asking questions, which lead me to the mute button. He's on this forum by the name T&T.

 I like that .... The dragons ...

Hey - Don't anyone flame me ... I'm learning as fast as I can

If I am in the engine compartment with back pinned against bow side - facing the aft ... WHERE is the trim tab reservoir. I just havent looked for it yet ,,, and I am heading over there in a little bit

The trim pump is located on the back transom behind the Port exhaust. Easy to get too.

Hello - New Sea Ray 360 Owner here. Just plunked down for a 2002 360 Dancer -- will be having it delivered to Lake Lanier within about a week or two after bottom is painted, and a few goodies added to the boat! My wife and I had a 2006 Sea Ray 240 Sundeck that we just sold. With a lot of Deck boat experience, I am still quite intimidated by the 'big boy toy' features, maintenance, operations, etc of the Dancer. Excited but a bit overwhelmed. I hope to lean on members of Club Sea Ray for advice

Congrats on the new boat! Let's see some pictures!

This is the best place to learn about your boat and how to use it properly! Welcome aboard!

One thing to keep in mind....when approaching a dock, the boat has a lot of inertia/energy. Keep it slow enough for headway and account for the wind. It doesn't stop like your previous boat.
Enjoy the ride...my daughter describes it like a floating sofa!

Thanks for the advice. Will be doing a lot of practicing with the docking. I just figure Neutral and Patience are my friend... and just add power as gingerly needed around the dock.

Will update with pictures soon!

Thanks all for the welcome. Look forward to participating on this board! I am on Page 22 of 77 reading all of the old posts! :):smt038

Congrats!!! You will love her. I have a blog of some of our stuff you might want to check out. If you can captain the 24 the 360 will be cake walk.

I have read your blog, and learned a great deal. Thanks! Awesome that you share so much! Was very excited to learn about all of the resources and ideas for the Sea Ray 360. We are doing it a bit differently, Our 360 is already upgraded right off the top before delivery: Fusion 750 Stereo, 3 Flat Screen TVs, KVS Satellite, Garmin Plotter with Transducer, cockpit woven carpet, new Isinglass, bottom paint, new anodes, complete detail, ER heater, LED lights in Cabin / cockpit, underwater LEDs.

I am scheduling complete new maintenance (impellers, oil changes, etc.) and looking into replacing the cabin flooring with some type of hardwood and replacing the steps with Teak Steps.

I figure that if we are not totally comfortable with the boat, we will be less apt to use it regularly. Want the Mrs. to be really comfortable and enjoy spending weekends at the dock or on the hook.

Like others on the board, we looked hard at the 2004 to 2007 320 and 340 models. I encouraged my wife to go for the 360, as it had the privacy and shower features without getting too large. After we selected the 360, but before finalizing the deal, we revisited a 320 + 340 and DEFINITELY realized we had to go for the 360. It is a bit older, (to meet budget) but with all of the upgrades and being a fresh water boat, it looks and feels very new.

Boating on Lake Lanier

Hopefully we will avoid 2 foot itis. We kept our Sea Ray Sundeck for 10 years.. and hopefully we will enjoy this 360 for 10 years... God keeping us healthy!

One question I have: does the bow thruster really make it easier to dock, or can I get along without one (generally fair weather lake boating).? Thanks!

Hi Rob,

All the upgrades are done? Boy you know how to buy!! Really that is great I mean she is "Turn Key" just add water and a captain.

The bow thruster is something I toiled with quite a bit before doing it. I had a few close friends be adamant that you don't need one and I gotta tell you, my thought pattern was that if I have to be "concerned" about a certain situation in a strange marina that's extra tight and have 1/2 a million dollar boats tip to tip and they put me in a way deep inside transient slip and then the wind kicks up and you have bow pulpits on each side of you way too close as you try to spin to do a port side transom in dock then some stray gusts kick up and you just hit the joystick you will be pleasantly pleased. No but really if you have to stress about using the boat then there will be things you don't want to do and that makes it no fun. Honestly if I use mine 5 times a season (other than regular routine system checks) its a lot BUT those were times when I absolutely needed it and it could have been a really crappy situation. Think of it like insurance, you have it and hope you never have to use it, but if you do you will be very happy.

Congrats on the 360. Was it a local boat? Post pics when you can.

I will tell you, I've grown up on the water. I've heard many people say a real captain doesn't need a bow thruster. However, for me, boating on the coast where we deal with both wind and current, a thruster is VERY nice. If on a lake, maybe not. But I sure wouldn't turn one down.

I have a first bit of a conundrum with the 360 we are purchasing. We were told by Surveyor that the shafts were leaking. (Both Port and Starboard). A little leak when resting, a modest leak when cruising. The surveyor though that there were spare seals on the shafts already, and that we would only need to have them "cut" out and replaced with seals on shaft. Reality: no spare seals on shaft, and the shafts will need to be pulled for new seals to be installed.

The boat is out of water with bottom paint being finished.

2 questions: Is this a maintenance item that can be deferred. (Probably know the answer already). ?
Anybody have experience replacing seals... and what was approximate cost?

We finished negotiations based on assumption that Seals could be replaced for around $250.00 Now, the cost is much higher. Thoughts?

Replace the seals. I am almost sure that boat came with a spare set on the shafts in the bilge. Take a hard look. But, a boat only floats when the water is in the outside, I wouldn't gamble with a leak and the boat is already out of the water. Should check the cutlass bearing as well if you are pulling shafts.

Hello again. Need to see if I can get a few parts.

1. Anyone know of a source for a refrigerator panel (wood grain) for the DA 360 refrigerator door?

2. Also, do you have a recommendation for a source for a new topside cabin sun lounger cushion between the hand rails?

3. Also, has anyone replaced the privacy screen for the hatch? Source to purchase this?

We did decide to replace the seals and negotiated with the seller to get this done before launch. Counting down the days until we take delivery. Will post pictures when we take delivery within a couple of weeks. Thanks for the suggestions and help!

I cant say I ever found a retailer for the wood grain panel I'd be interested in one myself. Although I might wind up changing the entire fridge out its original 2002 and its not as efficient as it could be.

The panel is vitricore. There are multiple write ups on here but you would have to purchase the material and have one made to fit the refrigerator. Overall cost should be around 500 bucks.

A little late, but congrats on the new boat! Sounds like she has everything you need.
Just a suggestion, if you don't have experience with twin engines, get with somebody who does, and have them teach you the ropes. Contact a local Sea Ray dealer for leads. A twin handles completely different than a single screw. The 36 is an incredible boat. And she handles well. She will turn on her on length, and is nimble in tight areas. However, you have to know how to use those gears and throttles. The bow thruster is a great tool. But, in my opinion, learn how to handle her without it. No offense if you already know how. Just a suggestion if you don't.
Enjoy!
