Calling all 360 DA owners

I would find a local hydraulics rebuilding company. They should be able to take care of it for a whole lot less money and in SC you should be able to get it done reasonable for sure. If you have any issues finding a place I have friends in Greenville that could make suggestions.

Quick question on winterization. I am in Georgia, so we have installed a bilge heater. We are leaving the heat on in the cabin through the winter and plan to use the boat on various weekends through the weekend. Our first cold snaps are coming up... overnight low should be 24 next week.

My question is on the rear stern water hose / sprayer that is in the Stern and possibly the water that is on the port side sink/freezer in the cockpit. I do not want to winterize the entire system... but not sure how to protect those two areas in particular. Would the bilge heater give enough heat to protect those water lines in case of an freeze?

Is there a way to just winterize those "outside" (away from the main cabin) water lines? Is there a separate water "cut off" for those lines where I could drain the water?

Thoughts?

One old trick is to put an incandescent light into the area you want to heat...put them on timers for the overnight...they would give off enough heat to keep those confined areas above freezing.

Here's my post from the 340 group: I received the valves this week, and should have them installed this weekend. My ride is an 02 340da.

Here's a neat little trick, I am going to implement.
I've order three, 3-way valves that "push-on" the water lines.
I will install one for the Hot/Cold lines each, that feed the swim platform shower, and the cold line that feeds the cockpit sink, on the lines down in the bilge.
When they are switched off, they back drain the line into the bilge. Should be no need to winterize!
The valves (same style as Sea Ray original plumbing) cost $16 ea. About an hour labor, done!

Jim, Thanks for pointing me to the thread. Very helpful. Would love to see the pics of your valves once you get them installed. Sounds like a very logical solution to the most vulnerable water lines!

A belated Merry Christmas to everyone.
Heading out to the boat this week to check on things, and finalize any projects for the rest of the winter. Minor things this year, I believe. Change out the nav lights (lenses are pretty faded), replace the salon TV/DVD player with newer generation, etc.....
Just over 4 months to launch day!

Yeah Buddy!! Merry / Happy!! I was there just the other day checking on the chargers. 107 days left till splash day!!! I have only one upgrade / mod I'm diving in to that dang Sat TV setup yet again! This time I bought all brand new equipment, done with the old stuff constantly updating and finding satellites.

I'm looking to change my tv above the galley sink. There's a 19" there now (a fairly old flat screen) and looking at a 24". Not sure I can get it to fit, due to the cabinet just to the left of it. I thought about a big screen on the main cabin bulkhead, but we don't watch it enough to warrant the retro fit. Thoughts on a tv size above the galley sink?

The biggest I felt comfortable with in that spot is a 21. I didn't want it to over extend the cabinet too much and look odd. I know a 21 is like a smart phone these days but until I figure out a better balance of size and mount it will have to do. I'll see if I can dig up some more photos of the install. Now the removable one we put up topside now that's a 24" and it slips out and stores perfectly in the cabinet next to the electrical panels even with the mount on it.

Thanks for the info. I have a Westinghouse 19", but am hoping to go up to a 24". That's my winter project for now. They measure around 22" by 14" so I'll have to play around with the location to make sure it doesn't interfere with the cabinet.
Should make the winter go a little faster anyway..........

Look at the Samsungs, they give you the best bang for the buck and they have on average the smallest leading edge, are the thinnest and have the best picture quality. I know I'm looking at the splash day ticker I have on my browser and its going to be a long 100 days LOL IF the weather breaks on time.

I've finally broke down last month on black friday and purchased a new TracVision TV1 system for install. I'm just worn out over the old system I have its too slow to update and seems like its always reacquiring signal. I replaced each piece one at a time and it still isn't what it should be. I have well over 10 hrs just on the phone with tech support over the 3 equipment manufacturers trying to get some reliability.

I'm pondering the thought of swapping out the refrigerator and freezer in the salon but that's still up in the air for the moment. Cira 2002 freon and pumps probably aren't up to the best efficiency level compared to the new ones. So that's a possibility.

Boy when we move up to the next boat the new owners won't have to do a darn thing other than fuel her up and enjoy!!

Happy New Year!!

I hear you!
I had the same issue with my freezer and fridge, but just replaced the control units. They run like new now!
I'll be interested to hear how the Tracvision install goes and how happy you are with it. We've thought about the same, but like I said earlier, we don't watch much TV when on the boat so not sure the investment is worth it. Our cable at the marina is OK, and I might spend the $170 for a HD antenna to replace the Glomax on the arch. We'll have to see. If I can get the 24" to fit, that will be a step up for sure!

Hmm changing the control units? Interesting how was that job? And what was the cost?

Yeah our cable is ok at the marina also but the Admiral is a college football fan and the only way I'm getting more boat time is to facilitate her watching. I'm content recording things at home and watching later lol. The saving grace is that DirectTv lest us shut it off for seasonal service 6 months at a time and we typically are only in for the $24-30 a month when its active. And its nice when were cruising and exploring new marinas we don't have to use & pay their cable if we need to watch it.

The controllers for both fridge and freezer - installed - was $710. I pulled the fridge and freezer out, and put them back in, to save on labor. It was fairly easy to do. Cheaper than new fridge and freezer! Like I said, mine work like new now.
What type of mounting bracket will you use for the TracVision?
As they say, happy wife, happy life!

Here's the mount that came with it,

Could you expand a bit on the fridge/freezer controllers? Is there a kit to purchase or are they a standard unit for ac/do fridges?
We have the same model year, and have been putting off upgrading. This sounds like a great solution without having to wrestle a new fridge down the companionway, let alone dealing with the asthetics.
Cheers and Think spring...Pete

The controllers are basically "black boxes". They are attached to the hull side behind the fridge and freezer. They are sold separately, and are hard wired between the units and the wire harness itself. The units themselves are roughly 4" tall x 8" long, if I remember correctly. The biggest challenge is the installation, since they are up against the hull, underneath the countertop. My yoga days are behind me so fitting into this tight space was not something I wanted to tackle. As noted, I did pull the fridge and freezer, and set them aside so the guys could get in there. The units themselves were $105 ea. I'll email the marina to get the brand and part number of the boxes for you.

Thanks...my fridge/freezer seemed to run ok on ac but the freezer seemed to have issues on dc..it would cycle on 4mins , off for 20secs then back on again. So we tried to keep it on ac as much as feasible.

Same here regarding the ac and dc. They run perfect now! I'd say it's worth a try. Still waiting for the model #'s from the marina. I'll post them as soon as I get them.

Great pics of the bracket for the TracVision from Dozen Shuck! that would look excellent on the arch! Good luck with the install. Keep us posted.
