I would like to improve the ventilation in my boats cabin and anchor locker. My goal is to keep fresh air moving throughout , both while using the boat and while the boat is sitting closed up when not in use. To aid in airflow , I am installing vents in all closets and cabinets throughout the boat.I am looking into an active ventilation product , I have found the Nicro Solar fan , Sunforce Solar fan and also two different systems made by Advanced AVS Vent Systems and another by Clear Air Boat Ventilation. I have read the reviews online about these products - but a person doesn't really know who wrote those . Does anyone have any real world experience (good or bad) to share about these products ? Are there other products worth looking into? Advice on achieving this goal? Thanks in advance. Paul

Paul……The best way to keep air moving is to get off the dock, anchor, open the hatches and enjoy the breeze…..

We hang DampRid in our closets and other spaces in the boat. It removes moisture and everything smells great. Get it at HD or Wallyworld.

And, although its not ventilation, try tea tree oil. My '99 290 smelled musty and pretty bad when it first arrived at my dock. After a thorough cleaning, i set a tea tree oil dispenser next to my West Marine portable ventilator, another in the head, and left all cabinet doors open when not in use. In a couple weeks - smelled like a new boat!
Now, on my 340 (which fortunately smelled new when I bought it), I have tree tree oil dispensers in all major spaces and lockers 24/7/360.
I buy the large refill bags of the stuff, and I make my own dispensers by drilling holes in the top of whatever small plastic container with a removeable lid that I can put my hands on.
I turned my neighbor onto it and he also had great success eliminating a major moldy smell on his older Grand Banks Europa. The stuff works - add it to your quiver.

I added ma NICRO mini vent just for the anchor locker and it does make a big difference!

When I restored my boat, the bulkhead between anchor and master was rotten, now it's dry!

+1 on the Dometic "Breathe Easy"

Pietro - Where you mounted yours in the anchor locker is exactly where i am thinking of putting one - plus i am thinking of mounting one somewhere in the main cabin , i will have two. If i may ask another question Pietro - Did you add a passive vent to let fresh air in?. My thought about all of this is if we can keep fresh air circulating some of the other things would not be needed. This way the boat would not be all closed up to develop the damp smells and mold. I guess i am thinking this will eliminate the odors not mask them. Paul

Large refill bags?? Is this oil not a liquid? Where do you buy it?

There's no need for a passive vent in the anchor locker as air will enter through the chain/rope hole.

In the cabin may put 2 Nicro vents, one pushing air in, the other pulling air out.
