Problem number 1 battery:
Ok so my buddy that bought the 01 340 is having more boat problems. This weekend he was in party cove for several hours and ran his stereo the entire time. When he went to fire up, his batteries were dead as dead can be. My 340 has always fired up after a full day of my 1000 watt stereo running. I do have to use the emergency start but no problems. I thought that the house battery would drain and the other batteries would stay charged. I am running 4 Optima batteries in my 01 340. Most of the time I will fIre up the genie for about 30-60 minutes and put my charger on and everything is fully charged and good to go. He couldn't even get his hatch opened by pulling the pin. He had to get towed in by a freaking pontoon boat.

Problem number 2 generator
He has the factory 4.5 KW Westerbeak and it fires up just fine and will run his A/C no problem. But, when he turns on the breaker for any of the other breakers for the charger or the fridge, outlets or anything like that it will trip the breaker for that item. Even if he leaves the A/C off and turns anything on the upper part of the panel it will kick the breaker. Does anyone have any idea what we can check to figure this crap out? I am about ready to sink his boat for him. This poor bastard has the worst luck with boats. The past 2 weekends he has even sucked the rope up on his jet boat. Not sure if it is luck or lack of common sense.

Thanks
Steve

Not sure, but sounds like a ground problem on the issue 2... New bateries should cure issue 1... I have 2 new and 2 old batteries... My old bateries are very bad, and I often have to use the cross over to start my port engine. I plan replacing those two next spring... I like changing them in pairs, a year a part so I don't have them all going bad at the same time. Your friend should trade his 340 in a new boat, with an extended warentee... I think he would get more than his money worth with a warentee...

System voltages? Port, starboard, and generator batteries?
System voltage on the A.C. panel?.
Did either engine start? Both dead? Generator dead?

It's difficult to diagnose a problem over the Internet with partial information. It's really hard when it's third hand.
