Oil consumption can be a sign of bad rings, overheating, or excessive idling among others. All of these are signs of a worn engine and not covered. I would deny the claim if one of our dealers entered what you stated as a claim. What is the compression, is there engine oil blowby, what is the operating temp history according to the stored computer data? Do you have service records? What type of oil/fuel are you using, when was the last time the cooling system was serviced? Are you seeing blue smoke on start up?
All of these would be questions I would have before considering valve failure.
If they pull the head and in fact find a bad valve then the repair can be validated and all related repair can be covered if there are no mitigating issues as listed above.
This is only my opinion after may years of reviewing these type of claims.
