Brand new 290 Sun Sport at my dealer.........drool

A genset.

As I said before, my 280SS is basically a 290SS without the aft fender lockers, the arch, or the extended swim platform. No Genset.

I kind of wonder if the 290SS is starting to get a bit "heavy" with all that kit. Especially since much of the extra weight is on the stern. I note the base boat on searay.com weighs in SUBSTANTIALLY heavier than my stock 6400lbs.

Are you SURE you need the genset?

Yes, I have the cockpit fridge. Use it quite a bit. I have Bravo 1 drives.

SeaRay needs/should have an option on the SS to add air/heat with a genset. That would be the best of all worlds. People that want the sport boat with true cruising-like capabilities. Wouldn't that be great???!!!???

Sure sounds good to me. :thumbsup: I don't know why they took down the pictures of the 290SLX. They were making them at the factory a couple weeks ago. I saw a couple of them in work while I was there.

The 290 SS will be my next boat. Genny is the only thing missing, but I have been told by a 290 SS owner that he saw one installed in another 290 SS on the starboard side in front of the engines in the storage area there.

Not work the retrofit costs in my opinion... you still have air and heat at the dock. So your overnights probably will be more comfy if you find a marina to travel to.

W/ dual mags and BIs the 290 SS fully loaded still flat flies compared to a cruiser (and much faster than a 240SD).

So, what did you think of the 08' 290 SLX?

I really did not look to close at it. I was more interested in the 290SD. Just noticed a couple of them and the 290SS through out the line at different stages of completion.

I saw the cockpit layout of the 290SD on the website and was unimpressed. Looks like they lost the wrap around U seat on the stern. Bad move!

It just doesn't seem to have character.
