Well, that there is the $64,000 question. I'll assume, based on your signature, that there's no salt water near you so you don't have to worry about barnacles. Right now, the only maintenance you have is the cleaning - which is free if you do it yourself. Bottom paint costs money to paint it and for upkeep - but with your location the upkeep is minimal, but it does cost money. But, you won't have to do the cleanings. Unfortunately, I'm not sure we can be of much help on this one - this is all your call.

you may lose some money on resale value if you paint the bottom on a trailerable boat. keep that in mind.

What is you current process/chemicals for cleaning it?

Bottom paint is just not for keeping growth off the bottom, it is mainly used to deter against blistering which can occur when water 'seeps' in the gelcoat.
Barrier coat (protects fiberglass) and antifouling paint (deters growth) are the 2 coats of paint to put it very simply without getting into a lot of details.

My trailer queen CV-23 has no bottom paint but is only in the water weekends. The 270 is in the water May-October and I like having it bottom painted. It hides the brown/green scum we get on bare bottom boats and the scum washes off with a short ride with my ablative bottom paint. I freshen up my bottom paint every three years with my own labor, Mike.

You will use more fuel with bottom paint in fresh water... Plus the cost of cleaning is less than the cost of the paint... I would stick with cleaning it... Pull is our through out the season for cleaning...
