Boatpix Helicopter Shots!

Hampton: PS - Nice pix. What bridge was that?

HAHAHHAHAHAHHA

And you need to get a biz going on up in the 1000 Islands, St. Lawrence Sea way area ~ both usa and canadian customers!

We've taken pictures in Newport since 1986. I bought the little helicopter company up there years ago and actually still have a receipt for it and the reason I know that is when I bought the helicopter I paid Rhode Island sales tax on it and it's listed on the receipt. The company has copied many things that we do, too many things in fact, but they don't have the special ingredients and those photos simply don't compare. At first blush they are similar and I don't want to point out some little photoshop details but we sell a premium product at price that copycats match and they eventually go out of business. We've tried selling pictures online and it simply doesn't work for us. We've sold a TON of pictures in Newport and have had a helicopter work that inlet for so many years. If you look at our prices they are cheaper. If you look at the angles of pictures the previous poster posted you'll see that we sell a much more appealing product than the copycats. You don't want a picture of the top of your boat. You don't want to prepay for it. If you do then contact me and we'll charge you the higher rates that others charge and we'll only take the top of your boat. We have the best photography in the world and we are the cheapest. Seriously, that is fact.

It would be nice if people would buy pictures online but they simply don't buy enough. It's sort of like a high end steakhouse in that you go there and pay and are happy. You could have gone to the grocery store and come close but the devil is in the details. Look at a BOATPIX picture from 25 years ago or this year and they are spectacular. I've received some private messages on this site already thanking me for the pictures over the years. Our sales are testiment to our loyal following. But if people don't want to see the pictures that's okay, too!

There is a company that I have used before up our way called Rhode Island Aerials (RIAerials.com) where you can search by boat name on their website and preview the images (low res and watermarked), but I was able to preview 14 images of my boat from a shoot last month, and after speaking with a lot of people up in the Newport area, most people are a little more comfortable with that company than the Boatpix company for the simple fact you can see what you might be getting BEFORE having to enter your credit card information. No offense Boatpix Tom...just wanted to pass along comments from many fellow boaters in our area that I have talked to about this type of service.

We took pictures in New York and the Thousand Islands area until September 12, 2001. On that day the state of New York stopped sharing the boat registrations. We worked with a Canadiann magazine and took pictures of their poker runs after that until the owner decided his daughter should take pictures. You can see the difference in the quality. Most people don't see it but compare and it's quite obvious.

It's worth noting that the pictures the first poster's Sea Ray are bright and don't have watermarks of the helicopter logo. The Lazarra in the second post are darker and have those helicopter logo watermarks. We shoot all the pictures "dark" so the froth of the wake is sharp when we brighten it it looks great. We're also going to remove the normal stains from the bilge pump, streak marks on the side of the hull from rainwater, barnacles or scum line on the antifouling paint and bird poop on the bimini top if there is any. If you want to be thinner or have more hair, it's no problem. Hey, it's your picture. We make people happy but limit it to the people that follow our procedure of logging in with a credit card. It's sort of like the cover charge at the hot bar in town. Don't pay the cover and you go next door. We don't charge a cover, though, we simply want to make sure you are serious

to the poster from Panama City: we keep a helicopter in Pensacola but have a fuel account in Panama City as we are there very frequently. If you want pictures shot for free contact me at TM@boatpix.com and I'll forward it to a pilot to contact you.

Boatpix, do you think the photos that have been taken could be archived on the BOATPIX website? I think if that were so, more people would be inclined to enter a credit card number and order the shots right away.

I'm curious to see how mine came out... 3 weeks is a long time to wait

Also, since you are offering free shots to the poster from Panama City, would you be able to include a CD with digitals of my shots, when the prints are sent?

After all, I am the one that hooked you up with this great thread!! :smt038

Like boat dollars, you are looking at it wrong. Consider it a life style. Can you do without it? Also, it's not hours running the boat or BJs from your GF, it's hours spent on the boat and minutes spent getting BJs. For some of you, that will increase the cost, but for others, it'll decrease it down well below $200/minute.

I guess that means that BJ minutes cost 10X as much as boating hours for a 340 Da. It's pretty close as to which would be a better value.

PS - Nice pix. What bridge was that? (JK) I'm going to download those and photoshop the top to blue.

:smt043 From top to bottom one of the funnier posts on a bulletin board in a while.

Thank you, thank you, thank you vera much. 4,000 posts and they finally call you funny, but XXXX one filthy XXXX, and you're a XXXXXXXXX for life.

Ours arrived today that were taken about a month ago in Charleston... They are fantastic. Only keeping one though.

I think its a very cool service, and if you ever sell your boat, youll have pretty cool actual pics for advertising...

Is there a similar organization in the San Francisco Bay Area?
I think that, between sailboats and powerboats. it should do a good business.

Im curious...would boatpix take pictures up in CT, on Lake Zoar of a raft up?

Better late than never...
