Just some random thoughts about boating, the boating life style, the state of the boating economy :

First I am thankful for Club Sea Ray and all the members (except two). What a great outlet to discover more about our passion for boating. To the moderators . . . THANKS.

I notice there are still boats changing hands including many CSR members, new and old, purchasing boats in all sizes. My dock neighbor just picked up a brand new Sea Ray 480 Sedan. One member here just picked up a Sea Ray 580 Super Sun Sport Yacht. I hope you got a chance to view the new owners photos and video. Well to all of you who have recently made a purchased my thanks to you for stimulating the economy. Even in a down time there are some buyers and sellers getting together.

My thoughts go out to all those that are suffering damage due to storms and this difficult winter. My hope is for you to get your boats whole again and hear that you are back on the water enjoying you love for boating.

Maybe I am just optimistic and hopeful but I really believe there is going to be a turn around and those buying and trading smart today will benefit. I have a couple reasons why I feel good about a strong come back. First the economy will recover. I don't know how fast. I don't know if it will be next year, next election or whatever but it will come back. When it does come back and demand catches up to supply we will be OK. New boats in the year of recovery will be expensive. You will see used boat values adjust up. If you take a look at the auto industry now you will see two things: New car/truck sales are down and used car/truck VALUES and sales are up. With that said I think the used boat market will come back faster than new boats. Good to have those new boats with new price tags to draw our values up.

For me . . .I am not selling and not trading. I am just going to enjoy everything about boating as you do. I can't wait for the first party. I am looking forward to grilling at the dock and having my dock neighbors over. The first raft up can't get here fast enough. What about the morning coffee and boat ride to the restaurant for breakfast? Hanging on the hook, just me and my mate . . . nice!

Let's do this again sometime.

It is real funny, I share the same thoughts. I found this forum a couple of years ago, but this year, since the winter is so cold, I have a new boat, I been spending a lot of time here on this site, gathering information and waiting for the ice to lift from the river and the docks in so I can spend more time on the boat, rather than just working on it.
