We were just informed this sunny Saturday morning while at the docks, that the Army Corp of Engineers is going to hold back the water at our lake to help the lower Ohio river. They expect worse case to be 38 feet above summer pool for 30 days. This floods the parking lot along with the bathrooms and associated treatment plant. Other facilities around the lake to be affected are two camp grounds, one of which has a bathroom with showers. Power to the marina and the camp grounds will be shut off today, leaving the owner to run generators to maintain ice and food coolers. We will also lose the re-fueling station, fresh water, and pump-out facilities. The marina owners have asked that the remaining customers not to put their boats in for fear of holding an elevated full marina in storms. While the owners have offered to shuttle those of us with boats already in from the bank to the docks, we were told that we can stay at our own risk.

Today its up 4 feet. Pictures from this upcoming weekend to follow...

Still have to pay???

Run, Forest, Run............have the boat removed from the water now.

You are about to lose total control of your boat. You and it will be at the mercy of the Corp, the marina operator and the weather.

This is exactly what has happened at our marina. I realize these pics won't mean much to many but I'll try and find some from normal levels. We are close to 20 feet above and its a mess.

So this deck stairs is from our clubhouse and restaurant to the road below. The road is under water. Its where you drop your gear off. The road is one lane but just past it the bank usually goes goes down to the lake about 15-18 feet. Its actually about 2 feet higher from when I took these pics because they stopped letting water out.

My pier is the second in from the main lake.

This was a downward walkway to my pier. They moved the end of the dock. The railing underwater on the right is above chest high.

The golf course is mostly underwater except for these couple holes. Looks normal, right?? Well see next pick of same hole and normal level.

To compare, look at this pic from their website which shows how much higher the golf course should be.

And this pic of the road area.

Having said all of the above, I think JimG has it much worse. I'd pull that boat out if I were you.

Cincy,
What do you think.....late May or June? Are the docks damaged?

I haven't heard about any damage. They were suppose to start letting water out saturday and it did seem to drop a couple inches by sunday but with the rain we are getting the next couple days who knows. It really only needs to be down about 3-5 feet to make it all accessible. But its still a mess with the debris. They clean alot yesterday hoping it was going down. So, who knows. I think it should be fine in a couple weeks if the rain will stop!!!

That's undetermined at this point... I think there is a clause in the contract that relieves the owners responsibility for any weather/Corp related events.

Myself and the rest of A-dock are personal friends of the marina owners... I have the utmost confidence that they will take care of us and they are allowing complete access to the boats.

See statement above...

Wow, Sure puts my bitching and moaning about the conditions of the bathrooms at my marina in perspective. Good luck guys. Brian

Good luck Jim. It's such a disappointment to start the year this way. But if you can get to your boat like I can use the time to do some interior projects. Like, um waxing your shower walls! ;) seriously. I may do this becaus I hate the water marks on it. Some collinite would make that bead up. Really, I actually cleaned my sump pump Sunday. Kinda rewarding.

Sorry for you guys. Imagine having too much water! Where I'm from we're always fighting with the COE for more water. Hope everything works out.

I've gone through this kind of thing! Just be patient and watch out for debris floating into your slip and scratching up the boat.
There will be a lot of logs, tree branches, styrofoam etc. Floating everywhere

Wow, that is crazy... How often does that happen? Go ahead and send some of that water over to Lake Michigan. She is a little low yet. Mike

Good thing I am in no hurry to get the boat out of storage if the lake is that high! I have played that course, that is crazy to see the water that high!

I feel your pain Jim, although not that much water here!

Bill those pics are unreal. Monroe is up 17ft, I sold my 185 bowrider and sea-trialed it with the new owner last time it was up 17ft. The ramp at Paynestown was completely underwater, except for the top 6" of concrete ramp.

I haven't seen Brookville that high ever! Monroe is a foot from flood pool, Brookville still has 12 feet to go.

Talked to our marina today Crystal Springs on Lake Ouachita in Hot Springs Arkansas. They said the water is over the road there also and the only way to the docks is they will shuttle to them during the day. I hope all this water stops soon here also. I was supposed to spend a week at the lake first week of June. But they said the camp sites are closed due to the water being so high last time it was this high was in 2008.
