We bought our 98 Sea Ray 210 last summer and have (mostly) been enjoying it here in Southern California. However, I will be losing my job in the next month or so, so we are looking at relocating. One possible job opportunity is near Baton Rouge, LA. Does anyone know if there are some good local lakes/rivers for boating? Specifically, we like to two a wakeboard, kneeboard, and tube.

Thanks!

I grew up in SW Louisiana and graduated from LSU. While in college, we would ski on the Tickfaw River to the SE of Baton Rouge or drive to New Roads and ski on the False River.

Yep that's right, False River, Tickfaw River, Lake Pontchatrain, The Tchefuncte River, Blind River, The Prop Stop.

Spice, check out "GCOFFSHORE.COM". That's the local poker run folks down here.

What kind of work do you do??

Ditto what Kreole Kid says - the Tickfaw, Tchefunchte (che-funk-ta) Amite and Tangipahoa will lead you all the way to the gulf if you are willing to ride. All of the areas are fun - but will be hot. Lake Ponchartrain is a brackish water lake that can be smooth as glass or really choppy. Water clarity is iffy after big rains but nothing around here is really clear until you get to the gulf. The Tangipahoa is more of a fishing camp type of river. There are several lakes (False River is actually a finger lake of the Mississippi) in the area, plus I think there is a ski school still in operation north of Baton Rouge - Bennett's
