Boating & Gas Prices

I will go as far and and as fast as I can. Then I will fill up and go again.......

I will be using the boat the same amount as last year but I will be maintaining cocktail speed more often. That may have a whole different set of consequences.

BOAT ON MY BROTHER!!!

Thax man. We have had 3 sea rays, all in this color combination. Looked for quite a while to find this one. Had to travel to lake Erie to find her. Well worth the trip. I envy all of you fresh water boaters, they stay real nice without the salt. I almost felt guilty dropping this one into the ocean.

Of all the costs of boating, fuel is down low in the top ten, but I'm still glad I filled up in the fall. We will use the boat about the same as last year, give or take.

WOW!!! Today, I filled up the car on the way to the marina....$3.52 gal. Got to the boat and checked the price at the marina dock $3.41 gal. Quickly topped off the boat because the marina said the price would be going up about $0.40 in the next day or two!!!

In 2008 we retired. The price of gas was 6.25 a gallon on our way to Alaska in Canada and 4.12 in Alaska. We like to boat in Washington for a month in the fall. May spend more time there this year. As someone said it will get a lot of boats off the water this year. Last fall gas was 4.34 on the water in Canada. No idea what it is now but I would expect it to be over 5.

Due to the price of gas i started buying more inflatables. I just bought a Aquaglide water slide. With this and the blown up island we can just go to a quiet spot and chill for the day.:smt038

Saw this morning at my local fueling establishment that gas was about 3.55 ish.. I don't think I'll change my boating habits much...

Probably gonna splash it for the first time in a week or two so I can take it to the Cherry Blossom Fest in DC..

Seeing fuel prices climb again really makes me think twice about upgrading to a bigger boat.

Wayne, you only have to be 52 to get a Senior coffee at McDonald's.

This is a good news/bad news post.

The good news is that I filled up the boat last fall at $2.78 for diesel.

The bad news is that now I have to burn it and will have to fill up at a significantly higher price.

Oh well, like someone above said....the cost of fuel is one of the smallest costs of boating.

BOAT ON BROTHERS!!!

Yesterday, Pietro said that gas was $8.46/gal and diesel was $7.75/gal in Italy. At those prices, I would just go hide under the bed.

Gas at the pump on the street here is around 3.90 a gallon but I havent been to the gas dock lately. I would imagine it is around 4.40 or so. Anyone here ever put a mast and sail on a 330? Is there a sailboat conversion kit available?

Whaler all the way! Best investment I have ever made.

Scott, I like your quote from A Fish Called Wanda, its one of my favorite movies...

I plan on using the small boat more this year... It gets more than 5 times the fuel economy than my 340...

I spent about $3500 on fuel last season... looks like it'll be about 15% higher this year so that'll bump it up to about $4000.
That won't be enough to force me into a trawler. I guess it's only a matter of time though.
I'll have to draw the line at some point...
