Boating food what do you like ??

This is what I like to eat when I'm on the boat.
I make this at home and put in a Ziploc bag to have on the boat.

Fried cabbage with bacon & egg noodles.

Cut up a small head of cabbage and fry it until it caramelizes with a pound of bacon cut into 1" squares.
Cook with no cover on the pan & only drain the bacon grease off once !!!.
Then boil up some egg noodles mix together and ENJOY !!.

You do get some nasty farts from it when mixed with beer. :smt043
 
I'd need to triple my Lipitor if I had that. We rarely cook on the boat...mostly snacks and take out. Daytime we just bring some sammiches.

Ingredients


  • 2 (6.5 ounce) cans minced clams, with juice
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 (16 ounce) package linguini pasta
 
This is what I like and why:Grilled shrimp/chicken/corn OTK and thats it.
Why? Its easy to cook, eat and clean-up is a snap. Also it doesnt roll around on the grill or table.
Tips; use good paper plates.

Same here.....We do use the microwave occasionally..
 
For an overnighter I'll bbq up some rib-eyes and take raw veggies n' dip and maybe some potato salad... fruit... granola bars... a couple sandwiches and juice boxes for my son. I'll bring some breakfast sandwiches for the morning... something like egg salad or BLT's. We always have lots of bottled water on board too. Day trips; do the same without the bbq. There's a lot of islands around with pub/restaurants so we'd never go hungry.

There is no limit to what you can cook on your boat. It all depends on how much hassle and cleanup you want. The last dinner we cooked was crab cakes (prepared at home, grilled on boat) with asparagus and a good bottle of wine.
 
Mostly we bring take-out (italian / pasta and salad or good ol' texas bar-b-que) and warm it up. We do grill at the dock (where we have a regular propane grill) at times. Steaks, burgers, chicken, etc. There are also plenty of places to stop and eat on the lake - though most of them cater to younger crowds and smaller boats.

For overnighters, I gotta start the morning with bacon and eggs (even though I don't start my non-boat mornings that way).
 
Todd, What the hell is that? ;)....and are they mini marshmallows?
