* Boat rot repair nightmare *

Thanks guys. Stay tuned for lots more progress coming down the road. I am also planning a question and answer section on my youtube page to help me get through the GOBS of messages I get.

Friscoboater, thanks for all the videos. Ive been watching them since someone here posted about your wood rot nightmare. Great work and hopefully you and family will enjoy the boat this summer. I get tired just watching how much thought and effort you have had to put into it.

I am almost ready to drop the engine back in guys. The new Corsa captains call exhaust will be here this week.

You're ripping through it, great job. I check for new videos every week. This will be a boat to keep for awhile once you are done with it. Looking forward to the gelcoat stage. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

wow that is a lot of work!!! Thank you for the videos I have learned so much, I am looking forward to the gel coating of the interior.

He loves it and probably would not buy a boat in bristol condition!

Very Nice work and updates. Fyi, I don't think Merc. uses bell housing decals on later model drives.

As others, I've been watching your videos. You're doing a great job. I just saw the update about your Mom passing. Jay, I'm very sorry to hear this. I figured something was up when we hadn't seen an update in a bit. I wish you all the best and feel the celebration of life is a great way to send your Mother to God. So from the PacNW, I wish and your family the best.

I also saw the video about your mother. My prayers are with you.

Good luck with getting the boat finished.

Doug

So sorry to hear of your mothers' passing, our thoughts and prayers are with you. My wife lost her mom last summer and we know how awful the heartache can be. Stay strong and have faith. I think its great that you are taking your dad to work and keeping him busy, he will really need to stay active and engaged with life now.
All our best to your family.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. We worked really hard this last weekend and made huge progress. Check out all the videos.

We test floated her yesterday to find the water line before cutting the holes for the Corsa Exhaust. She sure looked to floating in the water.

"Additionally, are you concerned about the alignment, given that your dad had to torque the engine a bit to get the drive on? If it were me, I'd re-check the alignment prior to running the engine, just to be sure."

Scott, what he meant was that he turned the crankshaft a little so the coupler splines would line up with the input shaft on the outdrive.

We checked the alignment before installing the drive and rotated the engine a few times to make sure it was the same. Just like Sferguson said, the only reason for turning the engine is to line up the splines.

Yes the splines were greased prior to installation. Also my coupler has zerk fitting for greasing the shaft.
