Hey everyone, I'm looking for some local (Ft. Lauderdale people) to tell me the best launch ramp nearest to Bahia Mar Marina. Thanks in advance!!

Wow - I am no where near there - but I can answer the question :) I grew up in FLL and starting boating at about 14. As soon as I turned 16 - I was out on my own. My Dad always had boats and we trailered them - so I know most of the ramps in the area.

I would say the City ramp at SE 15th St. is your best bet. It is just a short ride up the Intercoastal from there to Bahia Mar. The ramp is on the SE 15th St. finger close to the intercoastal, but on the west side. You can access it via US 1 on the west side of the Intercoastal - or if you are on the beach side, come across the bridge at 17th St and then go two blocks north. No bridge issues or anything else. Nice little ramp area.

Good luck and let me know if you need more help finding it.

Hey Old thirty Three, is the ramp you speak of at the 15 st Fisheries resturant??

I have seen your post about going to Bimini and I assume that is the reason you need a boat ramp near Bahia Mar. I am assuming you also plan to keep your tow rig/trailer someplace in S. Fl. Some (not sure which) will not allow overnight parking of the tow rig. I guess you can ask the people that have responded about that since I have never towed down to S. FL, only taken boat by water. Only ramp I know of (again doesn't mean there aren't others) is near The Davie Cut, Harbortown Marina in Davie just south of Bahia Mar and the inlet. I would guess maybe a 20-30 minute ride in the boat up the intercoastal (north) to get to Bahia Mar from the ramp and truck storage area.

If you don't need storage, you can ignore this post, just trying to help before you get a surprise about not being allowed to store truck/trailer.

Pretty much. The restaurant - which is a good one - is the building all the way out on the tip of the 15th St finger. If you pull up Google Maps Satellite view - the restaurant is the building all the way on the end. As you work you way back west, and look on the south side of the street, the big building w/ all the boats around it is a Marina. Then you'll see two big parking lots and the two ramps themselves. So the ramp is about 200 yards back west from the restaturant.

Looks like parking is only available for 48hrs max < http://ci.ftlaud.fl.us/parking/rampmarinaparking.asp >. Not sure if that is a problem?

Thanks Trit21!! I appreciate the info, I see where some only allow for 48 hrs........wonder how much the fine will be if staying 96 hrs????? LOL

Harbor town is where a lot of people go as they can leave their trailers/trucks in safety.. Bahia Cabana is a fun place to go and tie up for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or you can walk over from the Bahia Mar..

See you there on the 23rd!

I looked all over their site and I can't find anything about a ramp or truck/trailer parking. It will probably cost 2000.00 dollars as compared to their other rates...lol looks nice!

We just used the Harbortown launch and the $8.00/night storage for the truck and trailer for our trip to Bimini.

Great place...just plan to retrieve your boat at mid to high tide as the launch is shallow and the ramps short at low tide.....don't ask me how I know....:smt021:smt021:smt021

20 minute idle to Bahia Mar from there (all no wake).

Did I mention Fort Lauderdale is awesome!!:smt038

Thanks Kendall!!! Have a cold one at T-Bones on lake Wylie for me!!!!!
