Bimini Trip 2013

You guys are killing me!! Although I am optimistic that the move will be completed by then, I'm not sure I'm going to be ready for that long of a trip that soon. I think it would be a no brainer if you were going to the west end, but best I can tell, Bimini is a long way from Stuart! Between the nerves of doing that long of a trip and the 10k this move is going to cost us, I'm not sure I'll be ready for the Bimini trip that soon...:(
Shaun, You can doooooo it!!! I'll launch in Stuart if it'll make ya feel better........

come down the day before and tie up to my boat in Delray for the night. We'll leave together the next morning.

PROBLEM SOLVED - I'll move you from "Maybe" to "Going"

Although it sounds great, you haven't solved the other "little" issue of the 10k I'm putting out of pocket to move. To those who are more familiar with this trip and area, what kind of miles are we realistically talking about from Stuart and back in this trip. If I have that I may be able to better crunch some numbers.

Ft. Pierce to Bimini is 125 miles, and then 125 miles back. I am probably leaving from Ft. Pierce/Stuart area and would love to have you join us. We could skirt the coast for sometime then break for Bimini and maybe we can time it right and meeting everyone else off the coast of Lauderdale. Make it happen, you will not regret the thing you do but the things you didn't. Trip like this are not an everyday thing. Hard to get a group to commit for trips sometimes.

I don't doubt for a second that I would love it and IF it doesn't work for this trip it will the next time. So my figures are roughly 180 miles total. 180 / .08mpg gives me a total burn of approximately 225 gallons. 225 gallons at average of 4.50/ gal is about $1,013.00. Do these figures sound about right or average from what you expect on this trip for fuel or am I figuring something wrong?

Tom probably is closer on the mileage estimate, but fuel over there was 6.25 gallon in 2011. Tom offering to cruise w/you is supreme, especially for your first trip. Top off in Lauderdale before you make the turn to Bimini if you like, plus Randy is getting slip discounts for the group, you can't beat that :)

Shaun,
I don't have a dog in this fight but, man, this trip sounds awesome. If you can make it happen and the wife is on board I say do it! Even if you have to put a little on the Gold Card!!

I may have to add this trip to my bucket list!!

I know, Todd and I'm certainly not ruling it out. Great time to go, too because I'm having the marina redo my bottom paint when I get there so the bottom will probably never be more clean and ready for the trip! The other concern I have is time off. I don't know if we'll both be able to get the holiday weekend off of new jobs. I've considered telling them ahead of time that we already have a planned trip. We will see. One things for sure, those pics make the decision to not go much harder!! ;)

That is good advice. I would advise heading south, close to land, until Boca or Pompano. Then head directly to Bimini. Going directly against a 4 knot current is tough.

Return trip is entirely different.

Where is everyone planning on leaving out of and at what time? I know it is early but I wanted to make tentative plans for now. Of course they may change. If we are all leaving on Thursday then I will most likely run out of Ft. Pierce or maybe West Palm. My plan is to leave early and try and meet some or all of you offshore someplace. With that in mind comes my question on where and when you plan to leave as I will leave early if needed. Hey, usually leave the dock at 4:30am to go fishing in Daytona so night running offshore is kind of normal for us.

I will work on the spreadsheet this weekend and email it out to everyone. The departure inlet will be listed for everyone. The time will probably be a game time decision.

Tom, I plan to depart out of Pt. Everglades at first light, that would be cool if some of us could meet up offshore though.

Shaun, I'm stuck in a muddy hole in Texas and I'M trying to figure out a way to go! :smt001

Just do it!

Well geeze, when you put it that way!! :smt043
