Bilge heater (12v)

Think Cliff was wanting the type setup to monitor it from home.

that's right, i was looking at a way to monitor the engine room temp from home and to get an alert when the temp got too low....

I double checked mine last night and it was good and toasty. Should make it through this spell ok.

Can you keep us (me) informed as to how it's working out for you? Since your first post I have be eyeing the thing but can't find any real feedback on the thing.

I've got mine installed as well. It got down to 17 degrees last night but unfortunately my bilge monitoring thermometer decided to crap out on me. Hopefully I'll get that replaced today and can begin tracking the info again and report back later.

On my 320 should I bother with this? --> http://www.amazon.com/Caframo-Engine...5015717&sr=1-1 I have the engine winterized, but I want to keep the bilge a little warmer just to make me feel better. If so, how many of these would I need? Not sure on the size of my bilge.

We've had low 20's and teens the last couple of nights. I'll be going down later this afternoon and checking on how my two are handling things. Yesterday the lowest my ER had gotten was 47 degrees. (Temp probe is in the bottom 1/4 of the ER) Current temp outside is 22 and not going to get any much higher.

Oh wow. 47 is plenty warm.

Slip neighbor to the left of me doesn't winterize his boat....he has the luxury of actually living within sight distance of the marina...he keeps heaters in the cabin and ER....he has temp monitors that sit on the port side dash of his 340...they're marked so he can look thru the side eisenglass and seethe temps....last time I was there the cabin was a toasty 65...the ER 55.

what does he do if the power goes out?

I'd be afraid of it freezing as well. Mine is FWC. Plus the wear and tear on the unit

A gallon of pink is what $3.00? Gallon of fuel $4.25. When we lose power here we lose it for days, not hours.

3.89 for fuel here......he's never had to use the gen ( not the one on the boat.....like a Honda gen)......we haven't had any power issues here.....lucky I guess.

I use Acurite as the boat is in driveway and can access home wifi. I can monitor/view bilge, cabin & outside temp from anywhere. It's overkill as everything is winterized and I have a bilge heater, but interesting to watch variances.

Weve had a time or two of a few days of outtages and made it fine either running gennies and/or engines. I've not ever winterized cause there are enough nice days that I make it out at least several days each month during winter.

Thank you....I've been holding off getting one
