Big decision made today

Carp, just a thought about selecting an RV--many RV parks will not allow a 40' RV into their park. It also is a bit more difficult to maneuver through city traffic.

I initially looked at 40's but was convinced by friends to drop down to the 35'er that we bought.
That is a great point Mike, I spent a few minutes last night looking up the RV length limitations for the camp grounds near us that we used to frequent. 40 will work for most of our favs, 45 would be too long and we have already eliminated them. 40 will be the number as Kathy really values having the bath and a half for some reason even though I point out that 90% of the time we will be RVing alone or with RV folks that have their own head! A woman wants what a woman wants though!!
One of the trips I want to make is to the PNW as at some point we think we want to relocate from CA. I'll look you up when we decide to head north.

A business buddy of mine does the RV thing. He drives it to Florida in the winter. Wife flys. Still happily married. :)

Good smart move on your part @Carpediem44DB . I'm going in a different direction -- keeping a boat but downsizing quite a bit -- based on some similar issues, and also being realistic about how we use the boat versus what I thought everyone else wanted.

I would also give you similar advice about not rushing into an RV but I'm impulsive and go for what I want so I'd take it for what it is

Ha, just yesterday I was trying to convince her to take another boat trip since the season was cut short and not much time is left. I told her she can drive to the destination marina and I will meet her there.

Ha. The stories he tells. No way in hell she'd be in that thing going thru the Smokey mountains with him driving. :)

We found the same thing. At least with the age/brands we were looking at, there was a noticeable difference in interior amenities between 36 and 40 foot.
However, ferry costs up around Puget Sound can start ratcheting up as the cargo gets longer. Sometimes, you can get by less expensively by unhitching your towed and run them as separate fare.

If you do, you'll have a full dance card, as a bunch of us will insist you stop by to see us. Besides, you could make a pretty nice loop hitting all of the PNW members.

My mom and dad divorced after 52 years of marriage, I am really surprised they lasted that long, after us kids got out of the house, they really had nothing in common.
Maybe we need a SO thread, tell how we met our spouses, and how we got to where we are? It is almost off-boating season after all
We met at work. She farked like a rabbit. 42 years later I should have listened to mom and found one that could cook. She well done our Omaha steaks last week. I had to slather in A1 to put some moisture back into it.

One thing I never had to worry about in 30 years is my wife over cooking anything. Want something done right, do it yourself is what I say.

I agree. I cook dinner every day for almost all of our 31 year of marriage.
When my wife and I discussed getting married one of the first things she said was 'I'm not cooking'. In the end she did cook but had no interest in learning anything about it;) It's OK with me, I don't have any interest in it either.

For a good meal once in a while I've got my son, daughter, and friend Fred who is only two slips away at the marina.

Mechanical survey and sea trial scheduled for Monday so this weekend I will be tidying up little projects that I started and Ill take her out to make sure all is good. I'll start hauling personal gear off the boat as well. My bride does not want to go back to the boat so she isn't tempted to change her mind.'

Deal is moving along, the boat passed its mechanical survey today with a very short list of minor issues that I will tidy up for the buyer prior to haul out. Sea Trial went smoothly as well. We had plenty of water to leave the slip and a very rare no wind day, actually had a slight breath of air blowing the boat to the dock, normally I have 15 knots blowing me off the dock. Made returning to the dock easy and made me look like I knew what I was doing! Next week I will deliver the boat to the yard for haul and hang for a hull survey than bring her back to Benicia until we close. We may close at the yard and avoid the return trip since the buyer will berth in Alameda which is 10 miles down bay from the yard. Insurance will make the buyer get some dual instruction since his last boat was a 35 footer 10 years ago. Fingers crossed the deal continues as smoothly as it has so far.
