Can you recommend a place to buy Mercruiser Synthetic Blend oil, filters, transmission fluid and impellers?
I know it is a few months away, but I want to have everything ready for my end of season maintenance.

Thanks

I buy most of my parts online from a few places, Wholesale marine, boat fix, defender, and a few others... I used Mobil 1 this year and caught a ration, form friends on the CSR site... I bought transmission oil form Pep boys... Filters were 1/3 the price online compared to WM... Jabsco impeller from Defender for $26, compared to $90 at WM for a quicksilver...

I was thinking about switching to Mobil 1 and then read a few posts about needing to stick with Mercruiser 25W40 synthetic blend or I would void my warranty. The price is about the same, so I am not going to mess with success. I want to find a place I can order everything in one shot.

Do you know if I need any special oil for my Kohler 5e generator? or my 4 stroke SeaDoo GTX? I would like to the same oil in everything if that is possible.

When they installed my new genny, this year, they use a straight 40w Rotella... No sure whe Kohler recommends... The SeaDoo probably has a recommended weight that that is different for both the genny and your engines... I have found that oil is not as good as a deal online as parts... must be the shipping...

B-O-A-T Fix has most of the items you mentioned (except for the motor oil) and their prices are very good.

There is a small boat dealer that has a great parts department near me. The parts counter guy is super nice and he almost always has everything. Plus he always answers my questions. So, I go there for that stuff. It paid off, when I needed a part 10 minutes after they closed. He opened the store back up for me.

If there is a good parts place local, why not go there. West Marine never has everything I need.

Vince, take it from me and Jon - B0ATFlX.com has the best prices on merc parts. Not sure about fluids. But filters, gaskets, impellers, etc., you won't find cheaper prices on OEM stuff. This is where I got all my components for the head, manifolds and elbows (other than the stuff Rick donated to me).

I've had inconsistent results with Mobil 1. It was the only thing that would last long enough to be changed in my Porsches, but went right through the Chevy Vortec engine in the Silverado PU. Based on my Silverado experience I haven't tried to use it in the 496. The first year I had the 280 the PO's yard did the oil service. I don't know what they used but it did not last. The next year my yard used the Merc products and there have been no problems with lubricant loss (except for through the upper drive yoke seal).

I have found good prices on the Merc/Quicksilver oil and High performance gear lube at Wally World.

Thanks for the web site tip. When I typed that name in my reponse and previewed it, it came up ******. I forgot that BOE is the site sponsor and that other website must be a competitor. I must have broken some rules by asking for advice on where to shop. Ooops.

I will order a CSR Burgee as my penance..

I seem to recall the Sea-Doo oil for the 4 strokes is some sort of xw-40. There is a special recommendation to not use synthetic or semi-synth in the supercharged version, though... something to do with the s/c clutch. They have a synthetic oil for the naturally aspirated 4-strokes, but I don't know that it is "required" by the manual for those models.

Vince, this is what I use:

Oil for Generator - Oil capacity with filter, L (qts.) 1.36 (1.44) - oil - SAE 10W30/SAE-10W40

Vince, use a zero for the O and a lower case L for the I of Fix.

Got it.. I just don't want to break any rules and piss anyone off. :smt001
