Just bought a Twin Hornet for the bilge. Comes on automatically at 38 or 40. I want a heater to put in the bilge that will keep it toasty warm. Suggestions? Would be nice to keep the bilge around 60 or so.
In the water this year. Just got home from winterizing the engines, generator and fresh water system. Air conditioning system was a major PITA and I couldn't get the pump to prime at all to run the pink through. Can't access the discharge ports to blow air. I have one cabin heater and will add a second to keep it nice and warm. Looking to do the same for the bilge. I should have installed block heaters on the engines but ran out of time.
Peel, stick, and plug-in... https://smile.amazon.com/Silicone-P...-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1
Been looking all over for these! Just ordered 2 of the 250w version for my QSM11s. Pretty sure there is plenty of room to attach to the bottom of the pad. Just hope the power cord is long enough, especially for the starboard engine.
I have one each on the oil pans on my 3126's. The pans are warm to the touch every time I check them.
Remember, we also get some longer lasting lower temps as opposed to Mark's slip, especially since he is in a sweet boat house.
Forgot that the QSM11 holds 7.5 gallons or about 30q of oil. The 250w won't cut it for what I need. Cancelled the order and going with the 500w version which is recommended for 13-27q.
I use a twin hornet and it works exactly as described. When it was 0 degrees in Texas two winters ago, it was 45-50 in my bilge. Drops down to 37, kicks back on. Sine wave for an entire week. Worked beautifully.
Here's a wifi heater by GoVee. I have this in my cabin, it's nice as it can be set remotely and on a schedule. Not sure I would use it in the bilge but it does have over temp and tip sensors. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09WZZ3FN7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
How do you get power in your engine compartment for a heater? I have a cockpit outlet though using it will require me to crack the engine hatch. I paid the service shop to hardwire the engine compartment, adding a panel breaker, on the 330DA years ago. No time for that right now.
Before I installed an outlet in the ER, I removed one of the inspection plates in the floor of the transom locker and ran the extension cord through it. You will have inspection plates made to access the pins on the hatch actuator cylinders. Bennett
