Fixing to purchase a new ER heater. The old boatsafe heater is making a lot of noise.
I’ve noticed that there is a Extreme Heater and Caframco Pali available.
Pricing is comparable based on wattage.

    what’s ur experience?

I have the Caframo Pail and have used it on those cold nights when the brackish water in our canal skims over. Down here starting both engines for 20 minutes would likely create sufficient residual heat to avoid any problems and eliminate the need for the Caframo. We also have a small cabin heater that has a thermostat on it.

Wolverine Oil pan heaters. Had (2) install in Sea Ray 420AC on Cat 3126 for over ten years on the Chesapeake Bay in Deltaville,VA. Your Diesel engine loves being warm as well as the rest of the engine room. You can leave them on the entire time or run them through a line voltage stat if you’d like. I had a 250 watt heater on both engines running September till end of April. Non on generator as it was fully exposed to the heaters. Eliminates condensation and makes for easy no smoke engine start ups even on non electric diesel engines.

Try making a complaint to "Boatsafe Heaters" to test out their customer service.

I called boatsafe. They could not look up the serial # of the unit I have. Story was that they had bought out boatsafe a couple years ago and didn’t have that info. Very disappointed in that.

That sounds fishy to me. Their response is telling me to stay far away from them for any future dealings.

Could it just be that the fan is out of balance because of dust or grime? Might just need to clean it.

I used a can of cleaning duster thru the slats. Nothing came out anywhere. The unit is pop riveted together. Just left it in
Engine room until I pick up replacement.

I have the OEM boatsafe heater and added two block heaters that are stuck to the oil pans. No issues...

I assume mine is OEM also. My boat is a 04 model so it could be time to replace.

The heater may be the "O.E." to your boat, if it was, Searay customer service could tell you who the "O.E.M." was.

Your call on replacing/fixing, of course. But if you felt like removing it... I've "fixed" a number of cooling fans over the years by getting in there further and doing a better cleaning job, then a little silicone spray at the axle while spinning it.

I intend on drilling the rivets out and
Seeing what I can do. A 16 year old
Electric heater just worries me a little.

I have the Extreme heater. Very happy with it. It comes with a mounting plate that allows you to pop the heater in and out seasonally. Keeps my engine room at about 40deg. all winter. It is designed for this purpose so there are no fire concerns. I use the Temp Stick to monitor the ER temp on my phone which is awesome as well. Highly recommend it.

I bought a Extreme heater for my previous boat and it worked great. The mounting base is pretty neat. I used industrial Velcro to mount the heater in the engine area and then popped the heater in and out when needed.

My current boat has a Boatsafe heater installed by the previous owner and still working as designed.
