My Seadancer has 2 deep cycle batteries installed between the two inboard stringers in the bilge. I think ABYC and the Coast Guard both require that they be tied down somehow. Is that possible where they are, or do I need to move them elsewhere on the boat?

Has anyone else dealt with this? I'll say I really don't like the batteries being both low in the bilge and close to the engines.

maybe a pic of the batteries would help generate some thoughts....

I don't have any at the moment unfortunately. Next time I'm there which will be this week I will get some.

My 86 300we had battery boxes and the webing straps.every few years the straps would wear out from the box moving around on top of them. The starps are available at autoparts stores and most marine stores, they come with two plastic tiedowns that you screw to the floor on both sides of the battery boxes.

you can buy battery tie down kits at just about any auto parts store....here is a pretty common one...

Is there a way to do that without drilling holes for screws into the hull bottom? Could I 4200 some wood down there and screw it to that?

Can you post a picture or two, or at least describe the location better? Specifically, how close they are to the engines and fuel lines/fittings? There may be more to this than just "I don't like it". There could be legal/code issues.

Thanks guys for all of the suggestions. Turns out, I'm going to completely redo the 12v battery system on the boat as it even came from the factory with things done what I consider to be the wrong way.

Like the port engine tied to one battery without being switched by a battery switch. Why did they do that?
