Signed up this week for the boating fling put on by the Bahamas to Bimini Bay the last weekend of July. Captains meeting on the 25th, and we leave first light on the 26th... I missed going last year as I had an engine (Cold Fuel Module ) issue , and am so looking forward to getting away with family and friends.

If anyone else is going this weekend, please post here.. Bimini Bay is a fantastic resort with floating docks, 2 great pools, nice restaurants and no wake...

Hope to see some of you there!

Barry

You got me thinkin Barry, but I'm in the middle of diesel truck shopping, i will get back with you though if we can make it

That would be great. I'm signed up and my son Adam will be flying in to join me and hopefully a few friends. I love Bimini Bay even with it being 15 minutes thru the inlet... And of course some Conch salad at Joe's!!

Let me know... and hope all is well!

Will do Barry, we met up with kevin27 and Bucit from CSR down at calidesi island on Memorial Day, had an awesome time. Talk soon, take care!!

We went on the first trip to Bimini 2 weeks ago. It was cloudy most of the time and we did get rained on, but the crossing back & forth was good and we did have a great time. We had 9 boats go and met some great people. We stayed at Bimini Big Game. I have not been to Bimini Bay yet, but want to. As an aside, they went again this past weekend. The marine forecast was not good for Sat & Sun (3-5 NE 15K). I wondered how it was. We stayed at Bahia Mar this past weekend. I heard a knock on the boat about 10:30 am Sun. It was Richard. He said they did make the trip and the ride back was "not bad, following seas". I looked at the ocean Sun morning. Very windy and white caps. It looked like it would have been a rough beam sea on the trip back. Did anyone go?

We would like to do another Bimini trip, but we will be in Key Largo until Mid Aug. Have a great trip!

Thanks for the info Larry. As much as I like to be close to the end of the island there at Big Game, I was tired of all the wake that was created- boaters hardly slowing down as they get in, and the docks are not floating docks, so with tide swings can be a pain. Bimini Bay is a longer ride down for sure, but protected and great docks. The best part are the 2 pools there, just amazing and nice to have the shops and restaurants as well. 9 boats is not bad, but I remember when they used to get close to 20 going over... Did Richard and Carlton go over on your trip? did you get to Honeymoon Harbor and do the Sapona too? Those are my 2 favorite spots to anchor and snorkel and hang out!!

Will have the mechanic check out the boat next week or two and make sure everything is working well.

Barry, agree on ALL your points of BBG vs Bimini Bay. Plus, I enjoy the nice ride down to Bimini Bay. Also, BBG is not NOT affiliated with Guy Harvey anymore. Not sure of the details. Richard was the only one that went. And yep, did the Sapona, 3 sisters, and Honeymoon Harbor. All great!

Hey Larry,

Ironic, my company did a lot of work for the Guy Harvey Outpost -Bimini Big Game. sorry to hear they did not keep moving forward with the resort.

Anyone signing up for this trip?? Seems there used to be a lot more interest from CSR members...

For those of you who just came from Bimini Bay. I know they have two Marinas. Which one of the two do you recommend? I plan to go at the end of summer.

I stayed at Bimini Bay last month at the mega yacht marina. Close to the pool and where we rented a condo. You will definitely need golf carts at Bimini Bay as it is spread out...we rented them from Sue and Joy's right on the property and they brought them to us at the marina, but they were not cheap... almost $90 a day each if I remember. The zero edge pool at Bimini Bay is awesome... you feel like you are in the Atlantic when looking out.

Memorial Day I stayed at Bimini Big Game and had a great time as well...

I got lucky with flat calm crossings on both trips.

Thanks Mystic Dreamer!

Also, I have conflicting information regarding the Entry Fees. Some websites state its $150 up to vessels 35' and $300 for vessels over 35'. The Bimini Bay website has it a $300 for vessels over 30'. Anyone know for sure which fee is expected?

By the way, I am scheduled to travel to Bimini Bay August 31 to September 3. So far its me and a great friend of mine in a "go fast" boat. Anyone else is welcome to join us. We are leaving from Matheson Hammock marina in Miami.

I would be going with you guys but I spent all my trip money and vacation time crossing in the 260 to the Abacos a few weeks ago.

Make sure you guys get some pictures and stories to share!

Will miss your company my friend!! I don't think anyone else is coming from here.. too bad, I can't wait to get over there and relax !! How was it getting to the Abacos? I would love to make the trip but I don't think I have enough gas in the tanks to make it, and not sure I could afford it either.. Tell me about the trip.....

We had a blast but that is a long way in the 260! Your boat will make it fine just fuel up in West End.

bumping this up.. So far 10 boats are signed up for the trip, now 3 weeks away.

The trip there and back had the flattest seas I've ever encountered in all the years I've been going back to Bimini... There were 11 boats, some cruisers and some open fisherman's and a few go-fast. One other SeaRay owner with a 26' Sundancer single engine I/O came all the way from Iowa... Others as far as Mississippi and South Carolina. Left around 7:00 out of Bahia Mar and got thru the port around 7:30... Seas were less than 1' and we headed towards Bimini... About 30 minutes into the trip the 26' SeaRay called and said he lost power steering and had smoke coming out of his engine compartment... Seems that a pulley came loose and he lost the bolt that holds it in... We all stopped while he assessed the situation ..This was his first trip on an ocean and also a two day trip towing his boat from Iowa... Luckily he had called and gotten Boat US or Sea Tow, and had to have them come out and tow them in... We told them if they could get it fixed to make the trip over, but didn't think they would go by themselves. We traveled in groups going at similar cruising speeds. Another boat had some issues, and again we stopped for about 10 minutes while he figured it out, and then back to it. Got into Bimini around 10am, and traveled down the channel markers to the Bimini Bay Resort and Marina. It's idle speed all the way, but a nice ride and a great resort and marina with floating docks, and two stunning pools, 1 right at the marina we stayed at (they have two), and one Infinity pool overlooking the ocean. Spent the rest of that day hanging out at the pools, grabbing lunch at the grill at the Infinity pool, and there was a dinner buffet at the pool where we all got together. In walked the couple from Iowa... they actually got the boat fixed and came on their own...

Next day went to the partially sunken ship the Sapona and snorkeled there... so much aquatic life and again a beautiful day! I had a problem starting one of my engines heading back from the ship, and had to make the trip back to the marina on 1 engine... More on that tomorrow when I have more time... and the rest of the story then too.......

How was customs? How much did they charge for your boat?

They had customs right there at Bimini Bay for us, otherwise you normally have to go into town to Customs and to Immigration. It took less than 10 minutes for us.. For my boat was $150.00
