1987 amberjack hardtop, 1 ton v10, garnim4210, autopilot, espar heating,
Engines
twin v6 550 hrs
My front garage burnt down and part of the back garage burnt damaging my 270 amberjack hardtopI just spent 5 months restoring. I put new upholstry, new back handrail, new bottompaint , sprayed new striping polished for weeks till it looked brand new now its black. gel coat is heated to point of turning tan upholstry is burnt insurance coming tommorrow. Not sure I have it in me to do it all over again.

Good God, that is aweful. glad you are ok enough to type right now. hopefully insurance takes care of the monetary loss but i know nothing makes the emotional and connection loss better. Good luck
 
Sorry about your misfortune, thank goodness no one was hurt. Hopefully in time you may change your mind.

That stinks,hopefully insurance will make you whole on their payout ,at least for the material objects.The boat may total because of the age but mabey you can find a nicer one.

Gosh that does suck. Pleased no one was hurt and do hope you recover emotionally and find it in you to start again or maybe find a new boat soon. Good luck!

the garage is 25 x50 but the boat was in the back garage they think electrical insurance made fair settlement Im not sure Im ready to get rid of it have a guy coming to do some estimates on polishing and cleaning see what he says already know upholstery costs might be cheaper 2nd time Ill try to put some pics up tried before and said I had to many or something see if I can figure it out.

Sorry to hear!! All the best ! As others said glad nobody was hurt, I feel your pain !
 
Glad to see you are thinking about fixing the boat. Hard to think immediatly after disaster but time makes things a bit clearer. We live in Calgary and were in the flood way. We had got new furnaces and hot water tanks the year before and the basement was fully developred. All gone new furnaces and hot water tanks in. Will redo basement. Once you start on the boat it will all come back together and it will happen a lot faster. Sounds like you are level headed. In our area those that were are the ones that are OK the basket cases are ones that have no sence of direction in life. To own a boat you need a good sence of purpose and direction.

well I started the restoration have washed the boat 4 times trying to get rid of the black. Its looking a lot better cleaned the cabin and bath now taking everything under the deck out got the heater water tank working on hot water heater and electronics now the teak cleaned up pretty good will have to be refinished again but will come out good when done life goes on . Ill post some pics and let ya know how its going.
