I am a former member of SRO and found this site soon after SRO closed. This summer our lake flooded (Lake Texoma) to the point that we could not use the boat safely due to the amount of debris floating in the lake. It's a bit depressing not being able to enjoy the boat during peak season. I guess I'm fortunate we did not sustain any damage, and I will be able to use the boat during most of the winter months.

Anyway, I thought I would re-introduce myself. It's good to be see a lot of the former SRO members on the site. I learned a lot and hope to contribute when I can.

welcome back! There were some photos of some lakes in Texas posted here. It was something else. Hard to believe we have seen such extremes this year. Some lakes are dry while others are overflowing.

Welcome Back, Please send some of that water this way.

Welcome back - alot of familiar faces are here...........

We all welcome you back,,
and we should all consider ourselves fortunate that any of our trouble discussed here, among friends, are all related to boating...... think of it? if My biggest worry is a problem with my 65k$ toy..... life seems to have smiled on me... Too philisophical???? any way.. Welcome back Mr. Cotter....

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

Last year our lake levels were down so far that many felt it would take years to bring them back to normal levels. Virtually every lake in North Texas was down to it's worst levels ever recorded. I don't think anyone, including the Corp. of Engineers, expected the rise to come so quickly.

dpvandy01, I agree. For me and my family, it was an inconvenience of a lost summer. For many it was the loss of a job, home, or business. My grandparents have kept a home in the marina we keep our boat for 30+ years. They've lost three homes now during their stay due to a flood. While still a lot of work to replace and repair things, at least it was our secondary home.

When Katrina hit a few years ago, I thought about the boaters on the coast that had to find safe havens for their boats. Many posted pictures of their damaged marinas and boats after the storm. We all have to put up with the hazards that surround us in order the enjoy our hobbies.

Thanks again,
Dale

Hate to see all the misfortune of water levels across the country.....greenhouse effect is becoming more and more of a reality.

On a lighter note.....Welcome!!!

Hey Dale,
Debris is a fact of life in the Potomac. I sympathize. We had to do an emergency haul of the 420 in April after we smacked some submerged debris and loosened the port underwater exhaust. And don't even get me going on river debris with canvas and a mast on it.

regards
