While I hope VW/Audi works out their problem, because they make fantastic vehicles, I do find it ironic that those who are casting stones about VW and the environment, are doing so on a 'Power Boat' forum........call me cray-cray.....

...and Summer Fun II...bravo, your pics are hilarious!

This is just the tip of the iceberg. The EPA is going to go nuts and pursue every car maker to ensure compliance, just wait.

But....the VW "mod" gives the car better fuel economy, which means it burns less fuel, therefore probably less emissions. So, the correction will cause it to burn more fuel, albeit maybe at a slightly less emission, but is it enough to counter the difference of the better fuel economy? I doubt it.

.

The emissions from the VW modified cars are not just slightly worse. I have seen reports that say the NOx emissions are anywhere from 10 to 30 times higher than the permitted levels.

..Alright ding dongs! Riddle me this!

My last truck, a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with the 6.7L Diesel cummins and a DPF system got 18 MPGs Highway stock. Unloaded.
Modified, delete kits, and staight pipes (Sounded like a GD tractor) got 27MPGS highway Unloaded.
2 Years striaght....PASSED Arizona state emissions without any of the emissions control equipment on board. Per the read outs it "Blew Clean" with the NOx and Particulate counts well under the state regulated limits.
Towing the 268.....15-18 MPGs modified.

NOW.....I own a 2013 Ram 2500 cummins 6.7, 4x4 same drive line and everything. But now add the SCR and DEF with the DPF(WISH I NEVER BOUGHT THIS POS)
Unmodified, stock to the bone......15 MPGS highway unloaded.
Pulling the 268....8 MPGS...but i'm saving the enviroment by putting out "Less emissions" but burning a helluvalot more fuel.

Finally, my buddies 2011 VW 2.0 TDI gets on average 48 MPGS over the highway.
Now add the effects and costs of drilling and refining fuel, transport and so on, plus the development of DEF....the systems, and the transport and production of all of these little extras that help make my vehicle put out "water vapor" yet I still can't get a "Clean air vehicle tag" so I can drive in the HOV lane....

HOW MUCH am I really helping the environment? and how much of this BS is EPA LIBERAL BS

END RANT!
