I bought a 1997 370 and the engines were disassembled and the parts were mostly gone. I rebuilt what I could and sourced the rest elsewhere.

After about 1 hour of running, the Starboard engine back fired, broke the muffler and the heads were popping. Upon removal of the heads, we had water in with oil. the heads check out, but my mechanic is now telling me that we should have had spacers in the exhaust system to prevent back water from enetering the engine.

I have already called Sea ray , but can anybody point me in the right direction for a schematic of the engine room with the engines in?

Thanks

Tom

Yes there are exhaust risers typically installed. Otherwise you will end up with water in the motor. What size on a 370 not sure,

Thanks for the quick response, I guess the better question is what is the height of the risers for this application?

Tom,

If you can, please PM me an e-mail address where I can send a print or two for the bilge assembly. Familar with this model and the concerns for water intrusion.

You need 3 inch spacers between riser and extaust manifold and resinator kit 8 to 9 inches down in rubber ext hose to prevent water from coming back in.
