Is there a trick to removing this vinyl padding on the arch of a 320? I need to run some cables but tried to pry off the padding and it's not releasing. I don't want to force it and breaking any faster or clips.

Yup,that's it. Pry away, you can get a set of door panel pullers from an auto parts store, that may help.

Thanks, will give it a shot.

So as I'm contemplating how I'm going to run the coax to the cabinet in the cabin for my kvh unit I had an epiphany. Why not mount the direct tv receiver in the compartment behind the speaker/cup holder at the helm. There is a ton of room in there. there are also some equipment in there for my electronics and I have access to an outlet and the back of me tv. I would then run an ir receiver from the unit to the front of my tv. I would have easy access to the arch without the need to run 50' of cable. There isn't a lot of air flow back there but there is some. Does anyone see a downside to this?

You don't need to remove that padded piece to run cables to the top of the arch. The curved seat back once removed gives you access to everything you need in that area along with removing the speaker in the arch. There are some access panels that get you to everything you need.

I would not put the receiver outside. I don't believe its designed for that much moisture. We have ours in a cabinet with smoked glass doors, the remote shoots through the glass.

Thanks, that's good to know.

So you think humidity would be a problem?

Dean we mounted a JL amp in the bottom of the electric panel under the cd storage. You can run wires all the way from the arch through the cabinets (if memory serves me) behind the elec panel(remove) also on my 320 I did remove that pad by pulling it off and removed the speaker/cup holder at the foot of the captains chair. Also removed arch speaker to help.

Thanks Joe, this worked out. Looks like the padding has been removed on the starboard side before so it came off pretty easily. Is there a trick to remove the stock speaker covers. I don't need to get to them now but when I was running the cables I couldn't get them off and I didn't want to pry too much.

They are supposed to turn 1/4 turn either direction to an open spot in the grill then pull off of course they prob won't as I just did mine sat on the new boat. I am discarding the old ones so I did have to pry them off just watch the fiberglass.

Twist the speaker cover to the right about 10° - they will pop right off. Use a grip pad for better grip if needed (like a jar opener sticky pad). Re-install is easy with the non-slip pads on your hands.
