Anyone seen the Polk PA450UM Marine Stereo yet?

When it was introduced and through most of it's product life cycle, it was the best on the market.

It has since been eclipsed and is now discontinued. It is still a very solid choice for a quality head unit. The problem is that most of the features available to this unit which require add on accessories are built into most modern head units.

Basically it has priced itself out of the market and most consumers don't want to deal with add ons. They want it all built in.

If you can grab one for a reasonable price, it is a very good radio.

The website states (discontinued) no direct bluetooth, no docking for i devices, no video out, no nmea 2k, why would you pay $500 for this unit ?? Where's the attraction?

Correct. But is available from distrubitors. Bluetooth is a horrible technology for audio, compressed and slow. I devices Yes it a $ 10 cable to hook it up. Why would you want video when its only CD, but you can hook up a dvd into it to get sound. NMEA 2K is totally seperate.I would have the Sirrius weather out from your MFD and send it to the Head unit, it has the inputs to accept it. You could also run your anchor alarm to it as well!

I'm an amateur at stereo equipment so excuse me. But as for video the fusion has video out so I put movies on my I device dock it in the radio and it plays through the tv with stero sound not mono from the tv, all nmea 2k data is viewable at the head unit, and remotes, I agree bluetooth is not reliable but I am so anti "wires" anything and I love gadgets. I. Donot have the fusion yet I'm researching, but I HATE all the clarion on my boats , thanks for the info so far.

No problems about being an amateur< if you hate clutter why not use a $300 tablet for audio, video and NMEA2K info? so then you can be around the world and control and see what is going on in your boat! Re think security with cameras! tablet or smartphone based.
