Anyone here on facebook?

My land is conservative :) These socialists gave us crap because we didn't separate the plastic from the cardboard on the Toys-R-Us boxes for recycling--I told them (sarcastically) they should just burn it out back. Then they complained that the ice water was too cold (WTF?), not good for the stomach--OMG! I suppose it is all relative. Sorry for taking this thread off topic.

did you give them a can of deoderant for christmas?

...and that's what makes them interesting. We love visiting other boaters' blogs, especially the ones with big trips.

Enjoy: http://capitolhill2.blogspot.com/

To get the whole history, start with the November 2005 archive. My father-in-laws wife blogged their entire trip from DC to the Bahamas and back. We followed them by reading the blog daily.

She writes well and I think this made it's way into some boating magazine.

Right up there in pretentiousness with the blog. When did so many people get the idea that their life was so interesting? Did you hear about ME? Did you see the latest pictures of ME? Yawwwwwwnnnnn......
Thanks JG, that's the word I was looking for earlier to describe it, when I wrote my reply, Pretentiousness. I agree, 1000%!!!! that's what makes it so boring to me! The only time it interests me is if it's on some topic I might be interested in, but the rest of it is just a waste of 1's and 0's on a disk somewhere.

Just watch what you put up on facebook, myspace, etc. People have lost their jobs because of various pictures, poses, activities, etc. Even if you make things private that requires you to approve them as a friend before they can view your pictures/info, realize that the person you're approving may not be the actual person they say they are. Get the idea?

Are you saying I shouldn't post my naked pig wrestling pics on there?

Yes, family is on so I joined too. I don't spend much time there at all but do have some pictures uploaded. It's a lot easier there to upload with no size requirements that I have run into so far unlike CSR where I have to resize EVERYTHING.....(and yes I am bitching)

I believe Vbulletin has plugin's to automatically resize photos when they are uploaded. I don't think have that option installed.

I'm on it... Great way to stay in touch with people you want to stay in touch with, but might not have the time to... Reconnected with some friends and family on there... Its just fun to check in once in a while to see what people are up to, but i'm not a FB junkie by any stretch... Might check it once a week.

Actually, some people use facebook for business. I havent yet, but I have herd some decent things for networking using that source. Myspace, facebook et al in my opinion is for the kids. Or if you have low self esteem and want to pretend you have hundreds of friends that in reality dont give two craps about you :)

I am on LinkedIn, which is a business network site. I use this one often for work, getting leads, keeping in touch with business associates.

If I am going to play online, Id prefer to be on a bulletin board like this where you can "chat".

Blogs in our case are not about ME. My wife and I both blog because we get a kick out of it...could care less who is reading them. It's also kind of an electronic journal for us, not for others, just so happens it's public. The bloggers that blog hoping someone is reading their blog annoy me.

Professionally I love blogs and they have become a great resource for me. A lot of employees at Microsoft have started blogging, sharing what's coming, what's new, etc and I find this very valuable in my industry.

Personally, I read a few, but most personal ones bore me.

Don't discount LinkedIn as I have found it to be a great professional resource.

Same here with blogging. I do it for our hockey team. Its just that a couple of years down the road, we all have access to the pics and stories from our times together.

Yup, a nice perk about blogging. I stumbled across some photos from a trip we took in 2005 that I blogged about, I chuckled and it put a smile on my face this morning reading and looking at the photos.

Facebook and myspace are GREAT for talking to people you don't really want to hang out with. lol

Im on both, Its also a great way to keep in touch with old college friends, Share pictures from trips ect...

Another plus is screening for old friends you run into at the bar/parties ect.... After 6-8 beers OF COURSE she's hot. A quick look at some pictures when your sober can help you re-evaluate if your actually going to use her number or not.

I was anti-Facebook forever. Someone I respect said to try it so I did. Very cool to get in touch with people you have lost track of. I am new to Facebook but I am very impressed and have become slightly addicted to it as much as I am to this site (I don't post much unless I really have something to add or say that is of value...otherwise I like to lurk ;o) )...anyway if the folks from this site want to hook up I created a group on Facebook for Club Sea Ray fans. As long as it is okay with the admins on this site I grabbed the logo from Club Sea Ray and created a group for all of us to get linked up over there. If the admins and founders here have issue what-so-ever I will take down the logo and just leave it as Club Sea Ray group. I am the first member...maybe the only member who knows...
