Anyone have big plans for New Year's Eve or New Year's Day?

More college football.

Oh yeah, I enjoyed the Georgia beat down of Michigan last night.

Reminds me of a story my Investment Professor told me. A ND grad, a Purdue grand and an IU grad apply for an accounting job at a big firm. The interviewer asks one question -- What's 2 plus 2? The Purdue grad gives some answer usining binary math -- 1.99999999999. The ND grad, thinking he's so smart and has got this, says, "4, of course." The IU grad looks around, thinks for a minute, leans in and says "whatever you want it to be." :)

That's funny. Especially since I work at a big firm. My peers would laugh my in laws out of the building.

Our dinner at the Georgia Sea Grill was great! We couldn’t get the 7:30 we wanted when we made reservations several weeks ago so we opted for a little earlier. As we are finishing eating, I see it’s near 8:00 and there are several empty tables. They weren’t fully booked, they just can’t get enough help to run at capacity. Every place in town was like that. Everyplace is trying to hire.
The food was great, the waiter fantastic. The admiral asked if he recommended the scallops or the filet and he said it’s not called the sea grill for nothing. She laughed and said “ I’m sure but I like the Sides that come with the filet better”
No problem, they did the scallops with the sides from the beef. Usually New Years Eve is a special menu and most restaurants don’t want to waiver. Atmosphere was a little lacking (not much) but it’s a tourist town - 5 stars

Yeah. The place we went is always packed. Last night it was empty. It was really weird.

We had just a few friends over last night. House was cleared by 2200. Admiral and I washed dishes, then went to bed. Woke up this morning feeling fine.

We had a nice, quiet NYE dinner and called it a night around 9:30 because I had to catch an early flight to Phoenix.

Got to the gate, gate-checked a small suitcase I had and boarded the plane. Flight was nice and smooth, got to Seattle on time only to find out my flight from SEA to PHX was delayed an hour. I checked Flightaware and they said my flight out was leaving from another gate all the way in the hell across the airport.

So I walked all the way from where I landed to Gate A14. Nobody around to check with so I grabbed a seat and waited...and fell asleep. I missed the intercom call to start boarding but the lineup of people woke me up. I got in line and when I got to the gate and put my boarding pass on the checker it said I didn't have a seat.

Well that sucked and I asked the gate agent what happened. She said I had never checked in on the first flight. So my smart ass reply to her was "well, I sure didn't walk here." She said I had never checked in for the first flight. I said that not only did I check in but I gate-checked a bag and had my stub to show it.

Apparently the gate agent in Pasco who checked my bag had never checked me onto the flight. So the end result was the gate agent I was talking to said my seat was given away when I had "missed" the first flight. However, they did have one person on standby who had gotten the last seat. She and I walked down the ramp on onto the plane where she gave him the bad news. She made him get his carry-on bags and give up his seat to me.

He was not happy, but my give a shit factor for him was about as low as it could be.

I'm enjoying Phoenix. Thanks to whatever your name was. ;)
