I am new to the site, just wondering if anyone boats in Eastern Washington?

Well I am east of that (Spokane, WA) but I do boat the columbia river, however, north of the Grand coluee dam.

Welcome aboard!

Yes, I am "from" eastern Washington. That's where the recount votes over and over and selectively hand count just a few counties till the right person gets to be governor, right?

Oops, off topic already! :smt018

OK, I live halfway between the two of you above. I'm at river mile 300, on the Oregon side. That puts me just south of Tri-Cities. I normally boat above McNary dam. With the 270 I have been as far north as the Hanford bend. With the old boat I have been on the stretches from Vantage to Bridgeport. But never above Grand Coulee. What's to see and do on that stretch of the river.

With the old boat I have also been up the Okanogan River from Brewster a few miles, until the river got to be ankle deep and we had to turn around. Guess that was a few years ago.

Also been on Lake Chelan a few times. That is where I ran out of gas in the middle of the lake in the middle of the night. Guess that one belongs in the "stupidest things you ever did" topic.

I'm from Yakima (wife and I are from Spokane originally) and used to boat in N. Idaho. Does that count? We used to keep our boat at the Couer d'lene Resort, but trailered to Edmonds yearly for a trip North. You might try it. Edmonds will lift your boat right off of the trailer and haul you out at the end of your trip. Once you get a taste of boating in Puget Sound it's hard to limit yourself to inland boating, good as it may be.

Dave,

As far as what to see above the Coulee dam it just depends on where you are, Down towards the Dam it is very deserty, if you boat up the river towards canada it is very foresety with very cool views. ( much colder water) There is about 100 miles of boatable water between the Dam up to the Kettle falls.

I finally got out for the first time this year yesterday :smt038 We took our new 240 to lake couer d' alene and froze our butts off but it was worth it!

The mental hospital? I might be? Eastern Washington? Nope, nobody here. Crappy place to boat! SHHHH don't tell anybody so we can keep Eastern, WA, Northern, ID and Western, MT to ourselves!!! I'm NOT sharing my personal boat ramp on Lake Pend Oreille with ANYBODY!!

Yes, there are a few others here as well. I was born and raised in South Central Washington and have lived all over Eastern, Washington and Idaho. Boated in all those places too. We've had the boat out on Lake CDA two times in the past 5 years. Too crowded and too many people that can't drive their boats! We went to Harrison an watched all the folks with TWIN engines get stuck in the U docks with the wind blowing them back in. They couldn't figure out how to get out and smashed some smaller boats in the process. Some other incidents convinced us that it was not a place we felt safe. (Boat collisions, drunk boaters, jet boats at night with full sets of car headlights blaring back at you, jet skiers in the dark, loud offshore boats that cut you off while traveling 70 mph, etc., and that was ONE weekend) We typically head to Priest Lake or Lake Pend Oreille. There are less cabins on the lake and therefore fewer people borrowing dad's boat or the cabin owners boat for a first time trip around the lake.

We're getting ready to pull the winter barn off, wax her up and head to the lake after a quick trip through Trudeau's for a once over. Can't wait for some warmer weather!!

Live on Lake Pend Oreille in N. Idaho. Store the boat in Spokane. Boat on Pend Oreille, Priest Lake and in the San Juans(TOW THE BOAT OVER) stay away from Coeur d'Alene.

The 'ole..... "revive a 4 1/2 year old thread trick" huh?

Our boat is kept at our dock on Pend Oreille. If you have a trailer you should come up to Pend Oreille. Not as much traffic.

Debt-icated: We live just outside Spokane and boat on Lake Coeur d'Alene, have a slip at Silver Beach.....

Ruh-Roh! Uh, CDA isn't THAT bad to boat on! Did I recover OK??

Hey, it works! There aren't many FROM Eastern Washington and we have to check periodically!

We spend a LOT of time at Buttonhook. That's our favorite place on the lake!

We're from the Tri Cities and boat a LOT. The Columbia and Snake Rivers offer some excellent boating experiences.

Glad I didnt have to revive this thread.... Good to know that there are still active boaters in this area!

Are you up in the Sandpoint area or down south somewhere? We'll have to see if we can meet on the lake sometime next summer. If we're lucky, we can do it again in the San Juans somewhere!

Bumpity Bump!! I am getting boat crazy already and dang..... and at least 3 more months till splash time!

I am from the West side but I used to take my kids to Moses Lake every summer at the start of the season.....warmer weather, sooner.....we did the Columbia between the Bridge of the Gods and Hood River, and then wandered up to the the Billy Chinook in eastern Oregon, near Madras, about 3 years ago.....great trip.... the Columbia is spectacular....and the Billy Chinook is like a mini Grand Canyon with a lake at the bottom....eastern Washington / Oregon.... magnificent country, with that desert climate...perfect for boating....we just need a bullet train....

yup...sure did......

I think we need to plan an Eastern, WA get together next summer in Washington or Idaho? I'm tired of the snow and can't wait to get back out on the boat WITHOUT the snow tarp and in a pair of shorts!

The admiral & I will have our 280 moored back at Silver Beach beginning this April; if anyone would like to get together & raft up on Lake Coeur d'alene, let us know!....
