Anybody live in Tidewater

Wildcat will be getting the props. I got an email today telling me Jamestown got their lift. Hampton Marine will be operating it....we will see

I moved to VB in 1999 and brought my old 30' Trojan with me. Had high hopes of cruising to various destinations throughout the bay. Never made it much further than a few miles, never spent the night on the boat, most of my "boating" time was spent keeping her afloat and trying to get engines running. Finally gave up and revived my old dream. Sold the Trojan last year (more like gave it away) and just purchased a 2001 Sea Ray 260. Bought it in Portsmouth, spent a week cleaning and prepping, then brought it over to VB last weekend. I absolutely love this boat. Everything works, is clean, seems new (to me) and my heart soars every time I step on board. I am looking forward to cruising local destinations and meeting fellow boaters (especially Sea Ray boaters). First "big" trip is planned to Tangier in early September. Till then, plan to do several local trips and overnighters in the marinas and on the hook. I have enjoyed reading lots of threads on this site and plan to stay active - especially with the locals to share cruising experiences. Hope to meet some of you soon.

So we finally did our first adventure across the Bay. Went to Kings Creek at Cape Charles. Nice calm day going and made it fine until we got there. I learned a lesson to read the charts first!! Kind of obvious . My GPS route took me straight in to Cape Charles. Luckily I thought something was wrong and slowed down because we quickly got to 2 ft water. I slowly turned and eased back out. Hit bottom about 1.7 ft but kept floating out to deep water. So finally i look at charts and realize we had to come in way from the south through a fairly narrow channel. So we went south until we cut in and then no real problem. Its a little tricky the first time to get to King Creek but after learning the way in its ok.
We had a good time, everything worked. Made it home easy.
Next we want to try the Chick somewhere. Im going back trough this thread for ideas. Many years ago we had a summer cottage in Chick Haven so it will be fun to go back.
