Anybody here tie up aty Tice's Shoal? Barnegat, Bay, NJ

For those of you who go to High Bar Harbor, where do you anchor? The lighthouse (North side) or public park (South side)? We trailer our boat in Surf City (LBI) to the bay for day trips, go to Tice's occasionally but it's been crazy there.

Been boating on the Barnegat Bay since I was 14 yrs old.. Currently live in Beachwood and after being boatless for the past 12 yrs. or so, decided to get back into it so I purchased a 1997 240 dancer last week! I will be keeping it at the Beachwood marina. My brother keeps his 290 Dancer in Key Harbor Marina. We like to hang at Mystery Cove off LBI near Loveladies when Tices and HBH gets to crowded. Looking forward to this summer with the new boat and would raft up any weekend. Pick a spot and date... John

We go on the east side of the Dike (the park)... It is rougher there, but it is more accessible from the North. Also when we can take the dinghys to barnegat light, we transport our bike to beach... I have never anchored on the other side of the dike, but it looks like fun. We plan to go there a couple of times this summer. Our favorite places to anchor are: Windy Cove in Beachwood. Governor's cut, by LBI. The Captain's Inn. and HBH... We like Tice's, but usually stay clear of it on the week ends because of the crowds and crazy drunk boat captains... well at least the ones I am not friends with....

Rod, Glad to see you did not reveal the secret spot.Hope to meet up with some of the regular guys this summer.

We go to the "Secret Spot" all the time.... (Now it's not too SECRET)! The crowd at Tices is crazy on the weekends! It's almost as Comical as sitting at the Ramp at the Highlands Marina!! :wow:

The "Secret Spot" is not Tices Shoal... As Yoggi Berra said "No one goes there anymore, it is too crowded" i can't divulge the exact location of the SS with out first suggesting a raft up day... Depending on the weather, we won't be available until the end of April... Look for the deep water, unmarked entrance, on the north end of IBSP... It looks like a tree or giant mushroom...

Rodd we're moving to GCM and won't splash till the weekend of May 5th but we'll keep in contact!!

Rod,Frank, and guys, I took delivery of my 460 on sat. boat is now at OBM. Because of the lack rain the bay is about one to two feet lower. the channel into OBM I had to idle in from marker 27 depth finder read 2.7 feet to 3.1 not to good. I hate to say this but we need rain.

It is not lack of rain it was west winds last monday of 50 mph that blew water out. I was out by Mantoloking bridge last nite and very sholed in on west side of chanel only 4to5 feet from Curtis point to bridge.

Lack of rain never affects the bay level... Wind and tides do... The Ocean is much to big for rain to be a factor... The east side of the bay is typically very shallow. The good news is the bottom is soft...

Rod, what do i know about water level in Barnegat bay. I'm a carpenter by trade.I listened to other people. sounded right to me! I hope to see you some time this summer.

Looks like you're ahead of the game. I wish to have the same report. But, I was only able to take shrinkwrap off and install all inclosure. Ended up in bed with high fever for few days. I hope to catchup next weekend, but we'll have to prey for the forecast to change.
