Any Lake Lanier boaters on here?

New to this forum and one month into owning our boat. We are at Hideaway Bay; up there every chance we get, including this weekend!

Glad to hear I won't be the only one braving the expected chaos...lol. I'm open to suggestions for a raft up spot and time if yall are interested.

Dan

We managed a couple of hours on Sunday out there, silly old Lee wrecked our plans for all day Sunday and Monday. We just got a boat in July, I want more time!!! I'm not ready for fall! And fall used to be my favorite season. Maybe it still will be, cruising with the camper on, watching the shore turn gold and red. :)

You will love the Fall on Lanier. It is only us and the fishermen and no crazy rental boats and wave runners! The water is so smooth and with a light jacket or the canvas up it is really nice. They have some Fall Runs up to Gainesville to see the leaves every year and I like to go up and cook out. We have even anchored out because the temp is so mild and you only need a good blanket and no generator for the A/C!

Anybody taking advantage of the predicted great weather this weekend? I'm hoping to get some test cruise time in Friday afternoon after I put my new carburetors on tomorrow. I was hoping to get by Gainesville Marina Saturday to check on getting a slip so I can ditch this constant trailering. Also I need to get an estimate on a good polishing and wax. I'm still toying with the idea of polishing myself but will probably pay a more experienced hand to do it this year. Do you folks have any experience with Gainseville Marina? Or perhaps suggest other places for detailing? I'm also in need of a local upholstery guy to get an estimate on some cockpit cushion recovering if anyone has had some experience in that realm. I hate to bombard the thread with so many questions but I'm just now mechanically 98% and anxious to get the aesthetics worked out now. Thanks in advance.

Dan,

I literally 30 seconds ago just hung up with my upholstery guy. If you want his info PM me and I'll send you his contact details.

Sincerely,
Capt. Jason

Absolutely. I know its gonna be a big ticket item and I'd like to deal with someone that has a good reference.

Bald Ridge Marina here ... enjoyed a nice poker run today up at Lanier!

Sincerely,
Capt. Jason

If you check this thread, you will find lots of Lanier posts. Ditto to Capt Jason. Cold and windy with some rough "seas" Sat. Didn't win anything but low country boil was great!

Soon to be wet slipped at Gainesville Marina here. To Capt. Jason, I got your guy doing my cockpit upohlstery now and I also have some gelcoat dings being fixed. Wish I could have been out there this weeekend. About 2 more weeks and I should be floating again:smt038.

Post some pictures of the Poker Run. I did not make it this year..... Maybe next year.

Finally got settled in at Gainesville Marina (dock 3) but I'm the only SR on the dock:huh:. But, with any luck I'll get my cockpit upohlstery back in this Saturday....still waiting for confirmation on that. Anyway, I was thinking about braving the chill Saturday night and making a cruise around Lanier Islands to see some lights. Has anyone done this? Can you see much from the water? I drove through it a few years back and thought it was pretty neat but was wondering if its worth the pretty cold cruise to see from the water.

Currently living in New York and planning on building in Cumming this spring. Hope to have my 240 DA on the lake next year.
2006 Sundancer trailered.

Howdy ysidive. Cumming is a nice area, I'm sure you'll love it. Hope to see you on the lake sometime. Hopefully it will fill up by next season too....its about 13' low right now. Are you planning to move permanently or just build a vacation home?

Building a home when I retire. I purchased 2 building lots about 14 years ago, and plan on retiring in 2012. I have a daughter that lives there, and we found it to be a great area with many options for boating, fishing, golf and travel to othe lakes with the boat. Hope to sea you on the lake also. I like trailering my boat, so as to have options on where and when I want to use it.

Holy bring back from the depth of search batman. I am over at Lazy Days and the family is out most weekends. This Saturday we rented a slip at Sunset cove.

I will be in Sunset Cove most of the weekend if anyone wants to raft up for a while. I finally got my boat name put on the transom and I changed at the last minute she is now known as "Honey Badger". Anyone know who's playing on stage this weekend?
