Wow. Does seem a bit short sighted. I can understand having some laws against invasion of privacy and invasion of airspace (i.e. airspace around landmarks and important structures) but to make legislation against all FPV seems a bit extreme (granted I have not read the legislation yet).
Interestingly, I think the drone manufacturers are trying to be proactive. I was reviewing my manual today and the new firmware contains a database of special areas (airports and the like) that has restricted range and altitude limits. In my area, DTW (Detroit Metro Airport) is a special area. Perhaps that's a good way to handle such invasion of airspace issues--keep growing the list of special areas.
By the way, the cable I mentioned I broke that attaches to the GoPro transmits video to a receiver (presumably for FPV). So, I don't even need it because I don't have FPV.

Nice footage. I recently got a Phantom 2 Vision+, but I have had limited time to learn how to fly it accurately and carefully. I have been zipping around my yard at low altitudes in tight quarters, which is requiring me to improve quickly! I got it to take some good footage at the boat, but I don't think I am brave enough yet to take it out over the water! Do you land it back on your boat?
As for regulations, Canada is a little more lax at the moment, but I think they are soon to clamp-down...

I'm just excited at the prospect of getting footage of The Benjamin Islands, Topaz Lake, zooming up the glacial cuts in the Bad River. Hopefully the weather cooperates and I don't ditch the drone in the Bay. I have a drone!! I just like the sound of that in a Dr. Evil sort of way. I wonder if I could attach 'fricken lasers'? :smt038

I land it on the bow of the boat while I am standing on the bow. It's not that hard. I just take my time and let it stabilize position just above the deck before finally touching down.
