I found that magic eraser removes dock rash (that platic smudge you get on the hull from those rubber/plastic guards on docks). wet it, rub the spot, off it comes. re-wax and good as new.

be careful using the magic eraser on the hull of your boat...do a google search for MSDS sheet on the magic eraser. :wow:

Acetone is a much easier way to remove dock rash. A couple of wipes with a rag that has acetone on it is all it takes. Be very cerfull you don't get it on decals because it will damage them.

While some will say don't use acetone, it's all I ever used on my boats and it's what my dealer uses as well. I have also seen several detailers use it. If you don't want to buy acetone, buy finger nail polish remover....it's basically acetone and works just as well.

And I did... its a micro-foam with a light abrasive.
So I quess it may cause fine scratching.

I keep acetone onboard... like Dave.

I thought it worked great with no scratching or dulling. Took very little effort. I wouldn't wash the whole boat with one but for little spots, it worked great.

I have some cheap white fenders lining my slip (this way I don't have to take my on-board fenders out if I'm just going out for a cruise); thus, every so often I get some little white streaks on my black hull from these cheap fenders, just like what Turtle is talking about.

The "regular" magic eraser (not the heavy duty one) takes these off quickly. As you all know the eraser has to be soaking wet. Using it properly I've never seen any kind of scratches on the black hull from using this.

IMO, using acetone for these minor issues is kind of overkill. I use acetone when prepping bare or recently sanded steel prior to welding it (car resto hobby). It's a super degreaser and quite toxic.

Someone might have already mentioned this, but I have used magic erasers on blacks streaks and stuff on my white seats and they cleaned them quicker than any black streak remover!
