Annapolis to Block Island 2 Week Boat Trip

I'll be headed the other way with NYC for final destination before the return. I'm not as large as most in this thread so therefore neither is my fuel tank. I'm coming out of Narragansett Bay, RI and headed down via Long Island sound. I was hoping to make a fuel stop after about 70 miles or so. Does anyone have some easy access fuel stops along central/eastern, CT? I'm also loking for a stop over for an overnight in western CT or western long island before continuing on to NYC, Any suggestions?

I depart next Friday for my trip. Is there any navigating issues through NYC and the Mystic, CT area? Is NYC mostly no wake zones? I appreciate any local knowledge.

Thanks

NYC has zero no wake zones, unless traffic or conditions dictate. Be aware that there are kayakers on both te Hudson and East Rivers, so keep a sharp eye out. Not a big deal, but there are a few changed ATONs on Long Island Sound post Sandy, so have a copy of the LNM handy for reference.

Jon, I may see you in Block, on the third leg of our Nantucket trip, heading back to montauk.

Safe traveling, Jon. Keep us posted on how your trip is going. Have fun.

Tied up at Schnooers, the trip down to Wildwood was great. Seas all the way were pretty flat, even the Deleware Bay. I'll post a some pictures tomorrow.

Jon, Good to hear your first leg went well. Good luck up to Liberty....Tim

Arrived in NYC yesterday, it was raining and rained all night. The ocean is a different feel than the Chesapeake Bay chop, it took a little while to get use to. We left Wildwood yesterday morning and only passed roughly 4 pleasure boats in 6 hrs, weird. Internet is slow here, so I can't post pics but I will.

Good to hear you are making steady progress Jon. I was out at the beach in Rehoboth/Lewes Del all weekend. Ocean looked friendly, although several folks commented saturday how nice the surf had been compared to the few prior days when folks had been getting tossed around in kyaks and it was almost impossible to paddleboard etc. Guess that timing worked out in your favor!

Yes it is. The two things that struck me when we made our trip to New York was the color of the ocean water and how blue it looked. The other was how my engines RPM’s would ramp up and down as we rode the waves. When that first started I kept looking at my guages, I could hear the change. Of course having the dolphins run alongside of you is something you don’t see in the bay either.

Did you go directly to NY from Wildwood non-stop? We stopped along the way for fuel and it was much cheaper in N.J. Good luck with the rest of the trip.
