Anchorages along the Chesapeake Bay

Great site. Thanks for sharing.

I'm surprized they have such limited info for NJ, though.

I think you'll find a lot of good info on the Active Captain site. If you look at the charts on their Interactive Crusing Guide Book, the anchorages in the areas I frequent are marked and if you click on the marker you can get user reviews. It's a very handy site.

We're at Lankford Bay and agree Cacaway is a nice spot. Davis Creek not so much. Instead, follow west branch of Lankfrod Crek all the ay to the end. Quiet, deep, protected.

Also, up the Chester just above the Corsica on the South side is Conquest Beach. Its our favorite.

Jack,
Can you tell me more about Conquest Beach? I'm looking for a beach like place that is not too crazy, I have two little kids. How's the boat traffic and does it get crowded?

Jon

Conquest is perfect for family. Smaller boats pull up close as the depth is good close to shore. Never gets crazy and usually is empty.

We anchor for the night all the time. Holds very well and most boats leave at sunset.

For boats that need access to a land based sanitary facility, there is a county park there with facilities.

The beach is longer than it appears as these pictures were taken mostly from the middle looking one way.

Jack,
Thanks for the pics, looks like a great spot. Does the water stay calm and is there a lot of boat traffic? How's the jelly fish in July-August?

Jon

Water stays very calm since it is quite far off from the main channel. The only time it gets rocky is when some yahoos bring in the jet skis and play James Bond. But that is very rare.

Jelly? Of course. It is the Chesapeake after all. But they are no worse than anywhere else. Perhaps better than some I know.
