Hi all i am new to csr so nice to meet you all. i have just purchased a 1994 sundancer i am getting ready to haul it to the outer banks NC the only thing that i a not sure about is that the anchor when up is so close to the front cleat on the bow and as i will have chain on is it safe to rap it with the chain or should i have a rope and clip to pull it tight and tie it down with the rope and just let the chain run into the locker? also there is a ring sticking out of the rope locker that is threaded not sure what that is either , can anyone help on this subject thanks William

Bill in order to get a proper answer, blah, blah, blah....you need to let folks know what boat you have.

Just a wild guess at your situation but wrapping the anchor chain around anything is not good. I've seen it done but.....I guess we do live in NC. You need to invest in a chain stopper or a proper wire lanyard made fast to the bow decking, with ss clip to stop off your anchor chain.
As far as a ring sticking out of the anchor locker...got me. If it is "inside" the anchor locker, it is probably used to tie off or secure the bitter end or your anchor rode to the boat. It's a great feeling watching the end of your anchor rope flip over the side after your anchor takes it to the deep, and you realize you never tied it off!!!!!!lol.
Hope that helps.

thanks for the info, i have a 94 270 sundancer , when i bought the boat it had just rode to the anchor and i knew the tie down was close and just wondered what most did with the chain. as for the ring that is on threaded bar that comes out of the rode storage lid i have no clue. i just put the chain in the rode storage and closed it that kinda holds the chain a little and i made a line with a brass clip to tie off the anchor kinda what you would do if you was runni ng into rough weather as your back up. thank for your help 94 270 da 5.7 bravo II Reel-deal ps the boat is in a marina in beaufort nc now and nobody said anything (smile)

Hi William. Welcome to CSR. You really should take a time out here and set up your signature. Whenever you are having a problem describing whatever you are seeking help with, don't be afraid to put up a picture or two. There is a saying about that.

Some standard English and punctuation would help as well.
