American Boat Listings

100's of posts or not, what you read on this site is up to you to decide if it has value. Obviously some here feel they know what has value, regardless of who posted it, or it's content and intent. Glad the OP put this up.

I remember when I posted my 260 for sale and I got a call from ABL boats. Definitely a hard pressure sales organization. This validates my original take on the company.

I started my first reply with "I am not disputing your facts" as not to insult the guy. I understand the possible value Of his post. The guy probably got ripped off, however there is always two sides to every story. I noticed his boat details are a little sparse.
If Frank W or Alex starts a thread advising about trouble with a vendor or product I do not question it because they have established a good level of credibility on this forum. It is as simple as that.
Hopefully Wellcraft 270 sticks around and we get to know him and hear more of his story.

I agree.

Hell, we all appreciate the heads up post. 1 post or 1000, the post has some value. Quint is not disputing that, nor am I. But once Frank posted no one wants to even discuss the possibility of anything other than the OP being the good samaritan of boating forums. Which may indeed be the case!

If he was taken by a scam broker, or any rep from the company in question then they deserve all the bad press they get. If by some chance, ...... Never mind....

I hope he can get his money back.
I hope he returns & becomes an asset to CSR.

Just as a side,i didnt go look at the abl site ,i have seen it a few years ago.I dont want to give the site any hits to bring it closer to the top of a search for used boats.Hopefully it will keep people from going there to try selling thier boats.Glen

Jim...mopar....I find that interesting as well and was looking for a second post. It happens pretty frequently. One post and gone.

He is from Idaho, hes probably thinking about other things this time of year and will be back around.I would worry more if he was a constant replier like a few other a-h%#$ that were here and arent anymore. If he sold his boat he may be shopping for a searay and we need as many buyers as can be had these days.

This thread was referenced in another one about American Boats more recently. As I perused through it again I do find it interesting that this fellow never checked back in. To date he still only has this one opening post.

:huh::huh::huh::huh::huh::huh:

If you list your boat yourself on one or more sites, you'll get numerous calls from brokers and sites/services like the one described (mostly reputable). I have yet to have one of them ask me for money up front though, usually the pitch is that you sign a non-exclusive agreement with them, they list your boat in various places and if they sell it they get a commission. Personally I wouldn't trust anyone calling me with that type of pitch and asking for fees up front.

Jason

To answer some of the questions from prior posts, the boat was a 34' Searay Sundancer. It has since been sold and relocated to Long Beach California resulting from a free Craiglist posting. I have a home on Coeur d'Alene lake and have spent time on the water my entire life. I have bought and sold numerous boats in the past. This one was somewhat more difficult to sell due to the size, which is fairly large compared to the typical boat on this lake, limited and expensive local moorage options available, where I had the advantage of being able to park at my own private dock, lack of trailer, and transportation costs. Not sure what relevance the specific boat details have but my main intent in starting this post was to share my experience and hopefully keep others from encountering what in my opinion was a complete scam.

Thanks for getting back to us! Your post is appreciated, it's just that there have been alot of one & done posters in the past that were less than flattering of another person or company that caused people to question their intent. That's all. I had heard less than flattering things about the company in your original post and therefore was less skeptical of your intentions. If you stick around these boards a little you will see it's mostly good folks here looking out for and helping each other. Once again, Thanks for your post.
