I would agree, the extra space in the cockpit by not having all the addtional built in seating is great. I get many comments when at the dock that the space is similar to much bigger boats.

I can fish (fishing package installed) or cruise....the deeper vee too gives a great ride

Common problem, we had this fixed once after we first picked up the boat, first time it was loose hoses under the sink, just started doing it again last week, I need to get back out there and go through all the hoses again. The pump under the step does not pick up low enough and the water gets right up to the edge of the carpet under the step and wicks the water right out through the whole floor eventually.
Same problem on my 2007 270 AJ

I will bet it is from the condensation pan on the air conditioner. The drain fitting on mine was not tight, plus the rubber washer was on the outside not inside. I tightened it plus added sealant. The problem was solved for a while. There are several holes in the side of the pan to put the fitting depending on the installation. These holes are plugged with rubber plugs that may leak in time (mine did). I added sealant on the leaky one, this solved the problem for a while. Last week I had another plug leak which was located against the bulkhead. I had to remove the hold down screws and slide the unit out enough to get to that one. This time I sealed the remaining plugs. I suggest sealing all of them first time you fix it (assuming it is the A/C).

You may start getting wet carpet too, the pump doesn't kick on soon enough plus it isn't located at the low point of the bilge.

Fixing the problem isnt as easy as it sounds. Spaces are tight, etc. Since yours is an 09, i would hope it is covered under warantee. Get the dealership to fix it.

Floater thanks. They found the problem. Apparently they stressed the AC piping when they installed it so eventually it cracked which allowed AC water to drain into the bilge instead over the side. When I had the boat winterized I had them replace those pipes. Hopefully that resolves the problem. Now if they can just find a pill to take care of my boating withdrawal symptons.

Sanchita thanks. It is still under warranty and is being fixed but seems like I may see this again according to your post. Thanks for the info.

Hey all, I am starting to research my next boat (currently have rinker 232 BR), just relocated down to SW FL and so far most interested in 270 amberjack or 260DA, leaning towards amberjack as I would like to do some fishing with the boat.

I was able to find an '05 270 without AC but I definitely need AC, do you think I could get AC installed aftermarket? If it is possible I will call a dealer to get a quote. The wife isn't going to be stuck at sea in FL heat without the ability to getting some AC.

no problem on aftermarket ac. you will want to avoid the condensation problems many have had. you might want to consider a mermaid condensator to evacuate the water from the pan. basically it is an eductor in the heat exchanger line that sucks the water out.

If you've got some DIY ability and A/C install isn't too difficult- SR can give you the info on how tha factory installs were done.

Don't overlook the fact that A/C "at sea" is also going to require a generator $$...

you can get a DC air conditioner only (not reverse cycle cool or heat), that is a reletively soft start. you can run off batteries when stoped, and offf the juice produced by the alternator underway. that being said, run it off a separate battery bank when on the hook. always nice to have enough juice to start the engine.

HI guys I purchased my 270 amberjack in sept. So far so good.

Can't wait until April to get it back into the water.

My wife and i really like the boat.

Why wait till April? They are great all weather boats if you have good canvas.

Yep, I use mine all year 'round...... Have a lighted boat parade tomorrow night and we are supposed to have snow for that.....

I was hoping to go to the one here at Solomons Island MD, but the weather :)smt013 rain, snow, and blowing like stink:smt089) killed that for this weekend.

Dan313...good luck with the boat. You'll really enjoy it and then next year you be looking to move up to the 290

Yes, the 290 really is the way to go. Not as big as the 340, not as small as the 270. Just right. Well, for now anyway. Lol!

We love our 2006 29' Amberjack. Front end is great for cruising; aft end is great for fishing. Would be interested in pics of any decorating or customizing anyone has done on an AJ.
