Amberjack Thread -

Yes...where are you located?

Any one tow their 290 amberjack? I know with > 10 ft beam, permits are needed. Permits for each trip is not something I want to deal with. Slipping or dry storage is out of the question. For this reason, I'm leaning toward the 290 DA.

My refrig just bit the dust. Looks like its time for a replacement. What model is SR putting in the 290 AJ now?

I had a trailer for mine when I got it. Bought an F-350 to tow it and everything. I towed it once and decided that that was not a good thing to do on a frequent basis. Ended up selling the trailer and truck and staying with covered moorage.

I had to pull of my RADAR off when it was towed, and have a front and rear escort. I never did it the "legal" way. It was NOT (I repeat, NOT) a fun tow!

It was a pain to get in and out of the water as well. My F-350 was a 4-door dually with the 7.3 Diesel Turbo. It was 2-wheel drive and I had no traction. It was an easy ramp too.

I guess what I am trying to say is, I would not recommend it.

Vertigo did you get any pic's of your outdrive?

2009 270 Amberjack with 6.2L Seacore engine reporting in. Anyone have problems with water in their cabin bilge? Mine seems to fill up even if its not raining. No other water in cabin just the bilge. Could it be AC?

2001 290 AJ. Originally tan canvas. Replaced this spring with black during the Great Lakes Boat Tops sale.

Common problem, we had this fixed once after we first picked up the boat, first time it was loose hoses under the sink, just started doing it again last week, I need to get back out there and go through all the hoses again. The pump under the step does not pick up low enough and the water gets right up to the edge of the carpet under the step and wicks the water right out through the whole floor eventually.

2006 270 AJ here. North Shore of Long Island, NY.

mwillis, I also had water in the bilge under the step. I believe it came from the side windows not being tight enough. The three dogs that hold down the windows each have an adjustment screw on them. Look closely to see it. After tightening those dogs, my wet carpet and wet stinky bilge problem went away and is now bone dry. Even w/o rain, washing the boat with loose windows could cause the problem.

I haven't had a problem with the hoses, and don't have AC.

Does an 85 Amberjack 255 count?

Fell in love with the mid 80's AJ's 1st time I saw one and took me awhile to find one in good shape.

Awesome fishing and cruising boat for the Chesapeake Bay.

I love the wide open rear deck to fish off of.

Im hoping to upgrade to a newer one down the road but this AJ fits my needs quite well right now.

That 340 posted earlier is sweeet and i could definately see me on it.

Not before the dealer touched up the paint, we are going to try a wait and see approach....guess I will have to trust them...I am surprised that paint has chipped based on the touted painting process
